  • Couponing is not just for groceries

    Two weeks ago, I put the question To Coupon or Not to Coupon to you. Hopefully, that got your attention. This week, I’m going to take that further.

    The average family that coupons as I teach them how saves roughly $450 a month. That comes to $5,400 a year.

    Imagine what you could do with that money — put it toward your mortgage, pay down your bills, help pay for your child’s education, fund your retirement … The possibilities are endless.

  • Emma Rae Tingle

    Kevin and Cassie Tingle of Sulphur announce the birth of their daughter, Emma Rae Tingle, born Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Suburban Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Billy Dick and Robbie Jaehnigen, Sulphur; Patricia Hernandez, Eminence; Larry and Shelia Tingle, Shelbyville.

    Great-grandparents are Paul and Vivian Dabkowski, Pendleton; Bobby and Ruth Earl Harrod, New Castle; Elnora McAllister, Eminence; Peggy Tingle, Eminence.

  • A kick in the park

    Monday night, they gathered at a leisurely pace at Harry Hill Park; men and women of various ages and various athletic abilities.

    Once the teams were assembled, they took the small baseball field, in turns, to boot a soft-ish rubber ball as hard as they could.

    With rules similar to adult co-ed softball, two teams kicked it out for five innings before Odds & Ends was declared the winner with 12 runs to Campbellsburg Baptist Church’s zero.

    The teams were gatherd as part of a small, but enthusiastic group of adult kickball players.

  • 59 contestants • 13 teams • 610.8 pounds lost

    The Henry County Biggest Loser Contest has come to an end for 2011.  We thank everyone, North Central District Health Department, Henry County Extension Office, Henry Christian Church, and the contestants for participating in the contest. 

    Remember to continue to strive for the healthy lifestyle to make a difference in our community.  

    A total of 610.8 lbs were lost in our community.  Henry County, give yourself a pat on the back.
