  • An Eminence-based alumni group hopes to honor a man who devoted most of his adult life to youth baseball.

    Members of the Merriweather-King Street School Fund are hoping to convince Eminence Independent Schools officials to name a high school ballfield after long-time youth league coach Leeroy Winburn.

    Winburn, who also served on Eminence City Council for 20 years, died in March 2007 at age 63, and some feel recognition for his contributions to the community is overdue.

  • Suicide Prevention Presentation

    On Jan. 11, Jerry Lucas, a counselor at the Brook Hospital, will do a hour-long presentation on suicide prevention at a luncheon sponsored by the Henry County CARE Team. The luncheon and presentation is free to the public. If you are interested in attending please contact Janine Moore at 502-878-0001 to reserve a seat.

    Bethlehem Living Nativity starts Thursday, Dec. 22, and runs through Saturday, Dec. 25. 6:30 to 9 p.m. nightly. Donkeys love crackers!
