  • Allison Rice and Ben Risinger of Smithfield announce the birth of their daughter, Sophia Brooklyn Rice, born Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Baptist Hosptial East in Louisville. She weighed 6 pounds, 8.3 ounces and was 19 inches long.
    Grandparents are Ann Pott, Smithfield, Robert Rice, Eminence, and Evonna and David Risinger, Taylorsville.

  • One July 3, 1813, Chestley Vest posted a marriage bond of 50 pounds in order to secure a license to marry Elizabeth (Eliza) Dean, daughter of John Dean.  David Taylor signed as surety on his bond.  The wedding, presided over by the Rev. Thomas Vandever, Minister of the Gospel, was held on July 4, 1813.
