  • Raygan and Casey Baxter of Port Royal announce the birth of their son, Luke Carter Baxter, born May 23, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. He weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long.
    Grandparents are Billy and Connie Rearden, Bethlehem; Barry and Kathy Baxter, Lacie; David and Tabitha Perry, Owenton.

    Great-grandparents are Marrietta Catherine Owens, Lockport and the late Marvin Owens; Betty Baxter, Port Royal and the late Everett Baxter; Samuel Perry, LaGrange and the late Carrie Lee Perry.

  • Virgil and Mary Ann Parrish announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Megan Parrish to Adam Franklin, son of Mark and Carren Franklin.

    The wedding will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Whitehall Historic Home and Gardens in Louisville. A reception will immediately follow.  All friends and family are invited to attend.

  • Alan and Rosie Dunaway of Port Royal announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jessica Rosalee Dunaway to Scott Daniel Wolf, son of Robert and Sherry Wolf of Crestwood.

    The wedding will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at New Castle Christian Church. A reception will immediately follow in the gym of the church. All family and friends are invited to attend.

    The couple asks everyone to donate a can of lemonade or canned food to be donated to Central Café, a place that feeds approximately 350 to 400 people weekly.

    The New Castle United Methodist Church will be having their Sun Harvest County Fair VBS Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. which will include supper, music, crafts and Bible stories. The commencement will be Sunday, July 24 at 11 a.m. This is for those age 2 through fifth grade.

  • While watching an episode of All in the Family, “Edith’s Crisis of Faith,” a few nights ago, I found myself thinking about Jesus.  Funny how that happens; but why shouldn’t Jesus show up in a sitcom?  Back in the day, he certainly showed up in lots of places considered odd by those who knew how a Messiah should act and with whom he should be found.
