    Tom and Diana Eldridge of Pleasureville announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jennifer-Sue Nicole to Timothy Allan Kelley Jr. (T.J.), son of Tim Kelley of Pleasureville and Devona Rankin of Georgia.

    The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Henry County High School and is employed with the Department of Corrections.

    The groom-elect is a 2000 graduate of Eminence High School and is employed with Louisville Gas and Electric.

    The wedding will take place on Jan. 22, 2011, at Henry Christian Church. Invitations will be sent.

    Jeremiah Nichols and Davida Bailey of Eminence were united in marriage on October 25, 2010 at Duncan Memorial Chapel in Crestwood.

    The honor attendants were friends of the bride, Coley Wentworth, Eminence; and Amanda Joiner, Shepherdsville. Junior bridesmaids were Alexis Bailey, daughter of the bride, and flower girl was Kaleigh Nichols, daughter of the groom.

    We just celebrated the Thanksgiving season, and I’ve heard many folks talking about the good visits they had with family and friends.  Personally, that’s what I’m most thankful for.  Here in Henry County, we were thankful for the abundant rains which fell last Wednesday and Thursday.  More on that rain in a moment.

    It’s pretty easy to gain 5-10 pounds from Thanksgiving through New Year’s. Big holiday meals, parties and open houses, and candies, cookies and rolls are more available at home, work and school. All promote weight gain, and pair that with less time for exercise... well, you see the problem.

    Underage drinking plagues our communities with property damage, an increase in crime, personal injury, and even death. The youth who engage in underage drinking generally do not set out to create mayhem. They believe drinking just means a good time. They don’t’ think about the future or fully understand the chance of negative consequences with their actions.

  • For EIS student, community service project is personal

    Andrew Lentini couldn’t idly stand by and watch a loved one suffer, so he decided to walk… or at least get others to walk with him in raising beneficial funds for a struggling family.

    Lentini, a Shelby County resident who is an eighth-grader at Eminence Independent School, has organized a benefit 5k run/walk to raise funds for extended family member Troy Capps, who is suffering from the effects of stage-IV lung cancer.

  • Best firewood determined by species and seasoning

    Every winter, many Henry Countians utilize firewood for heating, sometimes for supplemental heat and sometimes for the primary heat source.  When buying firewood two factors will determine just how hot your fire is — seasoning and the kind of wood.

    Wood is made up of air and cellulose (wood fiber). The more air space that wood has, the less there is to burn. Buying wood with the heaviest/most dense per unit volume will keep you toasty.

  • BIRTH: Jett Stuart Seligman

    Dagan Michael Seligman announces the birth of his brother, Jett Stuart Seligman born September 17, 2010, at Baptist Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and was 21 ½ inches long.

    Parents are Delia and Michael Seligman.

    Grandparents are Sue Roberts and Phil Bowersock both of Pikeville; and Brenda and Donald Seligman of Campbellsburg.
