  • Alan and Rosie Dunaway of Port Royal announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jessica Rosalee Dunaway to Scott Daniel Wolf, son of Robert and Sherry Wolf of Crestwood.

    The wedding will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at New Castle Christian Church. A reception will immediately follow in the gym of the church. All family and friends are invited to attend.

    The couple asks everyone to donate a can of lemonade or canned food to be donated to Central Café, a place that feeds approximately 350 to 400 people weekly.

  • Virgil and Mary Ann Parrish announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Megan Parrish to Adam Franklin, son of Mark and Carren Franklin.

    The wedding will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Whitehall Historic Home and Gardens in Louisville. A reception will immediately follow.  All friends and family are invited to attend.

    The New Castle United Methodist Church will be having their Sun Harvest County Fair VBS Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. which will include supper, music, crafts and Bible stories. The commencement will be Sunday, July 24 at 11 a.m. This is for those age 2 through fifth grade.

  • While watching an episode of All in the Family, “Edith’s Crisis of Faith,” a few nights ago, I found myself thinking about Jesus.  Funny how that happens; but why shouldn’t Jesus show up in a sitcom?  Back in the day, he certainly showed up in lots of places considered odd by those who knew how a Messiah should act and with whom he should be found.

    Grandparents are David and Linda Young, New Castle; Danny Bruther, Eminence, and Tom and Joy James, Bethlehem.

  • David and Erin Orr of Smithfield announce the birth of their daughter, Campbell Adair Orr born June 10, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East. She weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Grandparents are Dan and Theresa Bickers and Chet and Cathy Lawrence all of Campbellsburg; and Earl and Shirley Orr, Smithfield.
    Great-grandmother is Ruth Klingenfus.

  • Michael and Falena Perry, West Virginia, announce the birth of their son, Ezekiel Andrew Perry, born April 23, 2011. He weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    He has one sibling, Maxwell Benjamin.

    Grandparents are Harry and Denise Perry, Port Royal; Cathy Osborne, Mt. Vernon; Larry and Vicki Osborne, Bowling Green.

    Great-grandparents are Harold and Edna Tipton, Port Royal; Lena McHargue, Mt. Washington; Faye Brinegar, Mt. Sterling.
