    Melvin Rowe, artist and creator of Louisville’s Pottery Rowe, has been shaping his world in clay since 1971.

    But this will be his first year to go medieval in Henry County.

    During a phone interview, Rowe said he was working on shaping clay into a two-and-a-half inch clay dragon that will slither up the side of a drinking mug to be peddled at the Kentucky Renaissance Faire this summer. Gargoyles and castles are not far behind.

    Haley Kemper announces the birth of her sister, Addi Sienna Cline, born January 6, 2011, at Suburban Hospital in Louisville. She weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Parents are Amy and Andy Cline of Pleasureville.

    Grandparents are Darrell and Barbara Kemper of Pleasureville.

    Molly and Madison LeCompte announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their sister, Tosha Denise LeCompte  to Thomas Leonard Tillett III (Trae), both of Bagdad, and members of New Castle United Methodist Church.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Chuck and Tara LeCompte, Frankfort and is the granddaughter of Charles and Helen LeCompte, Frankfort; Rita Bright, Eminence; Jim and Mary Bell, Owensboro; and the late Shirley Miller. She is a 2005 graduate of Western Hills High School, a student at BCTC and is employed by Vision First in Frankfort.

    The bride-elect is a 2006 Kentucky Community and Technical College system graduate  and is employed as a waitress and model.

    The groom-elect is a 1997 Vincennes University graduate and is employed as a contractor.

    Travis Jackson and Whitney Setters both of Eminence, announce the birth of their daughter, Alexias Ann-Marie Jackson born March 10, 2011 at Baptist Hospital Northeast. She weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Paul and Shirley Setters and Randy and Debbie Jackson, all of Smithfield.

    Great-grandmother is Frances Jackson of Eminence.

  • I don’t know which is more uncomfortable, the talking or the prep

    Many people my age (which if you have to ask, you’re not there yet) probably can agree on one thing.

    It’s hard to know which is more uncomfortable - preparing for a colonoscopy or talking to the doctor about why you think you need one.

    General opinion holds that the procedure itself is the easiest part - owing to the likelihood of extreme sedation.
