  • Berea Christian Church, located at 685 Franklinton Road in Pleasureville, will hold its homecoming Oct. 16 with worship at 11 a.m. and a meal at noon. Bring a dish, meat and drink provided. There will be a singing at 1:30 p.m. RSVP on Facebook at Berea Christian Church in Henry County.

    Eminence Baptist Church will have its annual Trick or Truck Oct. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m..  There will be games, food, safe trick- or-treating and fun.

  • Scott and Dianne (Woods) Adams will celebrate their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 15. They married on October 15, 1966, in Jamestown,Tenn.
    Scott Adams retired from Arkema in Carrollton and Dianne Adams is retired and a homemaker.
    The couple have five children, Billy Adams, Campbellsburg, Terry Adams, St. Louis Mo., Kenny Davenport, Shelbyville, Betty Rodgers, La Grange and the late Mary Ann Herrell.

    Rev. Paul Briscoe will be guest speaker at the Union Baptist Church Reunion Sunday, Oct. 2.
    Lunch served immediately following the worship service. 

    Pleasureville Baptist WMU will have a yard sale Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. All money raised will go to the Samaritan Shoebox Ministry.

    Eminence Christian Church will hold a recycle event on Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church on Main Street.  There will be a shredder truck to shred documents; paint recycle (household paint, no five-gallon buckets) and electronic recycle (no tv’s).  Donations will be accepted to fund additional recycle events.

  • The week of Sept. 11 through 16 was National Assisted Living Week, and residents at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in New Castle held daily activities in alignment with the theme of “Staying Connected.”
    Monday was Art Day at Twin Oaks. Local artist Sharon Silvers provided an art class to help residents get connected with their artistic sides. The halls were also decorated with examples of photography.
    Tuesday was Health Day and a guest speaker from Kindred Home Health lead a discussion on basic health problems.
