Defoe’s Seth O’Nan honed his world champion skills on his grandfather’s, Stanley Kemper, pits at his farm on Cedamore Road. O’Nan’s aunt, Becky Kemper, has also won a world title in the past. O’Nan’s goal is to one day beat the 22-time men’s world champion, Alan Francis.
O'Nan takes world junior horseshoe title

Seth O’Nan had some unfinished business when he and his family traveled to St. George, Utah, for the National Horseshoe Pitching Association world championships last month.

O’Nan, 14, of Defoe finished tied for first last year but lost in a playoff. This year, O’Nan wanted to take the next step and become champion in the junior division. O’Nan did just that, going 7-0 in the finals to dominate and bring the world title home to Henry County. O’Nan also has three state junior titles to his name.
