  • Cora Tipton

    Cora Mae Kesler Tipton, age 91 of Cropper, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Crestview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Shelbyville. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Carrie Scobee Kesler, member of Cropper Baptist Church, retired from state government and a homemaker.

  • Christine Yount

    Christine Wilson Yount, age 86 of St. Marys, Georgia, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at St. Marys Convalescent Center in St. Marys. Formerly of Cropper, she was the daughter of the late Willard B. and Mabel C. Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of Eminence Christian Church.

    She is survived by one son, Barry L. Yount, St. Marys, Georgia; one sister, Annaphine W. Troxell, Milton; two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Jack Yount and two brothers: Willard Wilson Jr. and Eugene Wilson.

  • Wanda Mitchell

    Wanda L. Mitchell, age 78 of Campbellsburg, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Signature Healthcare of Trimble County in Bedford. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Della Mae Welch Kendall, member of English Christian Church and former member of Lyndon Christian Church.

    She is survived by one son, Donald Mitchell and wife, Sharon, Simpsonville; one brother, James Kendall, Louisville; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Mitchell and one brother, Edward Kendall.

  • Omega Jervis

    Omega Wilborn Jervis, age 88 of Eminence, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Daughter of the late Morris and Viola Allen Wilborn, she was a clerk at Cook’s Pharmacy for 29 years and formerly an employee of Brunswick. She was an active member of the Eminence United Methodist for 61 years and member of the United Methodist Women.

    She is survived by one son, Garry Morris Jervis, and wife, Brenda, Louisville; and one granddaughter.

  • Talmadge Howard

    Talmadge G. Jake Howard, age 83 of Drennon, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Oak Tree Hospital of Baptist Northeast in LaGrange. He was a native of Knott County, the son of the late Sam and Bessie Calhoun Howard, a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served as a firefighter and former employee of Old Globe and Bright Light II tobacco warehouses. He was also a former groundskeeper for 27 years at Glenwood Hall Country Club at Perry Park and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Little Mary Old Regular Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

  • Charles Lockwood

    Charles Henry Lockwood, age 31 of Pleasureville, died Friday, October 17, 2008, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.

    He is survived by his parents, Jesse and Juanita Walker, Pleasureville; one brother, William Earl Walker, Pleasureville; and grandmother, Audrey Lockwood, Louisville.

    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 24 at Grove Hill Cemetery Chapel in Shelbyville. Reverend Jerry Anderson officiated.

    Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville was in charge of arrangements.

  • Joseph Whaley

    Joseph Daniel Whaley, age 60 of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of New Castle, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at his residence. Son of the late Joe Hoyt Whaley, he retired from Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans as a blood specialist.

    He is survived by his mother, Margaret Whaley Smith, New Castle; one sister, Barbara Gail Stout, Louisville; one brother, Tony Whaley, New Castle; and three nieces.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

  • Tim Keller

    Tim G. Keller, age 48 of Bedford, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange. He was the son of the late William Henry and Marie Clark Keller and a constable in Trimble County.

  • James Knight Sr.

    James M. Knight Sr., age 83 of Lockport, died Friday, October 17, 2008. He was a native of Shelby County, retired from Kentucky State Reformatory, attended Lockport Baptist Church and was the son of the late Arthur and Hannah Purvis Knight.

    He is survived by his wife, Anna Bell Henson Knight; two sons: James M. Knight Jr., and William A. Knight; four daughters: Phyllis Jackson and husband, Bill; Kathy Calvert; Cynthia Smith and husband, Harry Dale; Bessie Murray and husband, Frank; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

  • William Garrett

    William J. “Bill” Garrett, age 64 of Louisville, died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Jewish Hospital. He was a native of Trimble County and a retired certified welder for Hancock Engineering with 35 years of service.

    He is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Garrett; two daughters: Rebecca Meredith and Rene’ Hackney; two sisters: Leeann Powell and Betty Garrett; one brother, Gene Garrett; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Lloyd Garrett
