  • Bobby Mahoney

    Bobby “Sheik” Mahoney, age 73 of New Castle, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Baptist Northeast Hospital. He was the son of the late Robert C. and Hattie (Roberts) Mahoney, Sheik retired from General Electric, worked as a La Grange Police Officer and formerly served as a Henry County Deputy Jailer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean (LaFollette) Mahoney.

  • Bonny Parks

    Bonny June (Fowler) Parks, age 91 of Pleasureville, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at Crestview in Shelbyville. She was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Berea, to the late June W. & Nora (McCormick) Fowler. She became a member of Smithfield Baptist Church in 1953 after relocating from Richmond. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, T. Edward Parks and a brother, John T. Fowler.

  • Minnie Pollard

    Minnie (Atchison) Pollard, age 87 of Pleasureville, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Clara Belle (Terrell) Atchison, she was a homemaker and a member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church. Minnie was an avid seamstress. She loved to quilt and do all sorts of needle point. She also enjoyed china painting. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Pollard, two brothers, Ray and Owen Atchison; and her son-in-law, Elwyn Robinson.

  • Uley Washburn Jr

    Uley Thomas Washburn Jr., age 54, of Frankfort, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at his residence. He was the son of the late Uley T. Washburn Sr. and Viola Burnett  Washburn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Desert Storm.
    He is survived by his daughter, Miranda Sue Washburn.
    Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. The Rev. Travis Sheehan, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, officiated. Cremation was chosen.

  • Larry Brent Chisholm

    Larry Brent Chisholm, age 62 of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at University of Louisville Hospital  in Louisville. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam.

    He is survived by his wife, Ann Bennett Chisholm, Pleasurville; his mother, Carolyn  Roberts Harilson, Frankfort; one step-daughter, Chrystal Haberman, Franklinton.

    Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Sholar Funeral Home of Pleasureville. Rev. Eddie Nation officiated. Interment was in Defoe Cemetery.

  • W.I. (Nick) Nichols

    W.I. (Nick) Nichols, age 85 of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Spencer, W.Va., and was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Rebecca Marie Ray Nichols.

  • Owen C. Atchison

    Owen C. Atchison, age 90 of Eminence, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at his residence. Owen was a farmer, member of New Castle United Methodist Church and member of No. 282 Masonic Lodge in Eminence. He was the son of the late Elmer and Clara Bell (Terrill) Atchison.

  • James Thomas Baker

    James Thomas Baker, age 86 of Pleasureville, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Winchester, and was the son of the late Oscar and Bertha Christopher Baker. He was a retired tool and die setter at General Electric in Louisville, a member of Pleasureville Baptist Church and a 51-year member of Solomon Masonic Lodge No. 5 in Shelbyville. He was a US Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. His military decorations include three Bronze Stars, a Victory Medal and a Korean Service Medal.

  • Edward Chilton

    Edward L. Chilton, age 95 of Turners Station, died July 30, 2012, at Homestead Nursing Center in New Castle. He was the son of the late Robert and Evelyn Sorrell Chilton.
    He is survived by his two children: Marie Foust, Benton; and Joe A. Chilton, Turners Station.
    Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg. The Reverend Earl Wayne Perry officiated. Interment was in Port Royal Cemetery.
