  • Unemployment rates again fall all across the state

    For the second month in a row, unemployment rates fell in all but one Kentucky county between February 2017 and February 2018 and rose in Metcalfe County, according to a news release from the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics (KCEWS), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

  • Leadership class of 2018 gets official kickoff

    The Class of 2018 Leadership Henry County has officially kicked off. We had a nice meet and greet at the end of March at the Grigsby-Stiltz Tea Room and Catering in Pleasureville; what a beautiful place that is. We will have our opening day next week and learn more about our own leadership styles and more about how we work with others. We will spend our day at the Henry County Extension Office. I am looking forward to spending time with this group in the upcoming months.

  • Unemployment falls all across Kentucky, except for one county

    Unemployment rates fell in 119 Kentucky counties and rose in one county (Carter County) between January 2017 and January 2018, according to a news release from the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics (KCEWS), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. At the same time, unemployment in Henry County dropped by more than a percentage point.

    I want to start off by saying welcome to our new chamber member,
    A Modern Milkmaid, LLC, a marketing consulting business, was established in 2017 by Carilynn Coombs. Coombs offers a full marketing suite from traditional marketing and digital marketing all the way to brand development. She started her company because she saw a need in the community and industry for professionals who could offer flexible, reasonably priced marketing services to small rural and agricultural businesses.

  • Henry County’s unemployment rate fell to 3.1 percent in December

    Unemployment rates fell in 117 Kentucky counties, stayed the same in two (Estill and Hickman counties) and rose in one county (Bath County) between December 2016 and December 2017, according to a news release from the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
    Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the commonwealth at 2.6 percent.

  • Knee replacement provides relief from the pain for one Henry County man

    Walking is an ability that most of us take for granted. Henry County native, John Crawford, didn’t have that luxury. In recent years, with the health of both his knees declining, he experienced bouts of severe pain and restricted movement, according to a news release from Baptist Health La Grange. “It felt like I had gravel between my joints,” he said. “Every step hurt.”
