  • MaGruder serves as a page

    During the 2012 session of the Kentucky General Assembly in Frankfort, Allison MaGruder was chosen to be a page for a day. She was sponsored by Rick Rand, State Representative for Henry County. MaGruder is a sixth grade student at Henry County Middle School and the daughter of Thad and Karen MaGruder. Allison was very pleased with the event and considered it a legislative learning experience. She and her family are most appreciative to Representative Rand for making her feel so special.   • Henry County students named students of the month at SCATC

    The following students enrolled at the Shelby County Area Technology Center have received the Student of the Month for March, which is a student who is exemplary in the academic areas of the classroom:

  • HCHS FBLA wins big

    On March 13, Henry County High School’s Future Business Leaders of America competed against 20 schools in their Regional competition at JCC Southwest in Louisville. 

    Sixty Henry County students competed in various business related events, with 37 students placing in their perspective event. These students are eligible to compete in the FBLA State completion on April 23.

  • Gentlemen, start your engines

    Students in Lyndsey Davie’s small-power class at Henry County High school recently received a gift of 10 brand-new engines from Briggs & Stratton.

    During the class, Davie said, the students learn about safety, tools, engine principles, carburetion, pistons, ignition systems, engine performance, and careers and entrepreneurship, spending equal time in the classroom and in the shop.

  • EIS takes part in Digital Learning Day

    The Alliance for Excellent Education announced that 37 states, 10,000 teachers and 1.5 million students signed up in support of the first national Digital Learning Day on Feb. 1.

    Digital Learning Day is a national awareness campaign designed to celebrate innovative teachers and highlight instructional practices that strengthen teaching and personalize learning for all students.

  • Eastern Elementary hosts a Turkey Trot

    More than 100 people attended the Eastern Elementary School Turkey Trot 5K and everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather. Principal Sharon Bright kept her promise to kiss a pig if 100 people attended. Third grade teacher Britttany Marshall fulfilled her part and brought in a pig, straight from the barn.
