  • Local Students of the Week: Eastern Elementary School

    Sam is a third grader at Eastern Elementary School.

    Favorite subject?

    Reading, because I like to read a lot.

    What’s your favorite book?

    Superfan. It’s about a wrestler and a kid. He goes to the superfan contest.

    Do you have pets?

    2 cats and a dog. My cats’ names are Cheesecake and Fuzzball. And my Dog is Buck.

    What’s your favorite school lunch?

    School pizza! Because I just like pizza.

  • Local Student of the Week: New Castle Elementary School

    Emmalee is a second grader at New Castle Elementary School.

    Favorite subject?

    Math, it’s fun. We get to come up on the board and write stuff. And answers.

    What’s your favorite school lunch?

    Tacos! They’re good!

    What’s your favorite season?

    Winter, because my birthday is Dec. 3. My sister’s birthday is Dec. 22.

    What kind of music do you like?

    Justin Bieber. He’s cute.

  • Logar is ATC student of the month

    Alan Logar, a senior at Henry County High School,  has been named Shelby County Area Technology Center the Student of the Month for September, for being exemplary in the academic areas of the classroom. Logar is studying information technology at the ATC

    What is your favorite subject?

    Math. I like numbers. I also like history, It is interesting to learn about what people did and all things that have happened in the past. I went to George Washington’s house and it’s really cool to be there and imagine all the things that happened there.

  • Eastern students head for Louisville

    Eastern Elementary School’s fifth grade students took a field trip to the University of Louisville. The students worked on physical fitness activities and team building activities in the Crawford Gym.  This was conducted by U of L students majoring in physical education. This was coordinated with the Project Balance Grant. After a campus tour, the students saw a show in the planetarium.
