Much like a business, a school district should set goals in order to drive its results. At its most recent school board meeting, principals of all the Henry County Public Schools discussed their delivery targets, or test score goals, with members.
Jason Banta of Pleasureville was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Banta is pursuing a degree in Business/Marketing/ Education at Eastern Kentucky University.
Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership.
During the November Henry County Public Schools Board of Education meetimg, members were treated to several presentations by Henry County Middle School students who are currently engaged in project-based learning activities in the classroom. Project based learning, or PBL, focuses on student driven, teacher facilitated, hands-on learning experiences that present content to the student through the activity instead of a more traditional lecture style of teaching.
The Henry County Adult Education recently congratulated Lauren Allen for her mastery of GED Express, according to program Coordinator Betty Rankin.
Allen qualified to participate in an accelerated learning opportunity that allows students to progress more quickly toward taking the GED test, offered as a part of the adult education program at Eminence Christian Church, 5333 Main Street, Rankin said.

Henry County Middle School hosted the annual Reality Store that allowed middle and high school students from Eminence and Henry County to get a taste of the real world. Students were given a budget and had to go to various tables to buy things like houses, cars and insurance.
