  • Children learn through play at Early Childhood Center

    Learning begins very early in life, and at the Henry County Early Childhood Center, children have the opportunity to learn in a variety of fun and effective ways suitable to their age.

    The Early Childhood Center, in its second year of operation, is located next to New Castle Elementary.  Director of Instruction and ECC Principal Alysia Wedding reports that 122 3- and 4-year-olds are served through two Head Start and five Preschool classrooms.

    Adriana is a 7th grader at Eminence Middle School.

    Favorite subject?

    Science, because you can try different kinds of experiments and you can see how different things work.

    Do you have pets?

    Yes, a dog. Cookie is a chihuahua

    What do you do for fun?

    I like to play with my nephew, he’s two. You get to see how he learns, the way he thinks.

    What would you like to do when you grow up?

  • Henry County Middle School Leslie Whaley

    Leslie is an 8th grader at HCMS.
    What is your favorite subject?
    Social Studies. I love how Ms. Treece teaches. She teaches it differently than anyone else. She teaches in a way for everyone at any level to learn. I love learning about the presidential candidates and how it will affect the budget if Romney gets elected. I also love learning about what people did in the past.
    What do you do for fun?

  • Local Students of the Week: Campbellsburg Elementary

    Kurtland is a 5th grader at Campbellsburg Elementary School.

    Favorite subject?

    Science and social studies. I like science just because of the curiosity of it, the cause and effect and that you can do experiments. I like chemistry and robotics.

    Do you have pets?

    2 cats: one black cat named Shadow and an orange cat named Rex. We don’t know what breed they are.

    1 dog: his name is Diesel and he is  a pure white boxer

    What do you do for fun?

    Tiffany is an 4th grader at Eminence Elementary School

    Favorite subject?

    I like a lot of things. I love math, social studies and reading. Mrs. Ashby helps a lot. I also love karate and horse riding.

    Do you have pets?

    3 dogs, 7 to 9 cats, goats, sheep and horses.

    Dogs: Bella, Jazzy and Buckles.

    Cats: Bobtail ,Bear, Mittens, Black cat a.k.a. junkyard cat because that’s where we found them, and  Calico.

    Horses: Fancy and Silky.

    Sam is a third grader at Eastern Elementary School.

    Favorite subject?

    Reading, because I like to read a lot.

    What’s your favorite book?

    Superfan. It’s about a wrestler and a kid. He goes to the superfan contest.

    Do you have pets?

    2 cats and a dog. My cats’ names are Cheesecake and Fuzzball. And my Dog is Buck.

    What’s your favorite school lunch?

    School pizza! Because I just like pizza.

  • Local Student of the Week: New Castle Elementary School

    Emmalee is a second grader at New Castle Elementary School.

    Favorite subject?

    Math, it’s fun. We get to come up on the board and write stuff. And answers.

    What’s your favorite school lunch?

    Tacos! They’re good!

    What’s your favorite season?

    Winter, because my birthday is Dec. 3. My sister’s birthday is Dec. 22.

    What kind of music do you like?

    Justin Bieber. He’s cute.
