  • New Castle Elementary ‘looks like a new building’

    When New Castle Elementary School students head back to school today, they’ll walk into a building that’s practically new.

    “What kids are going to see when they come back is new tile flooring throughout the hallways and cafeteria, new paint on all the classroom walls, new ceilings and lighting throughout the entire building,” Henry County Public Schools Superintendent Tim Abrams said. “It’s much brighter... but that does not complete the project.”

  • Embry James Stivers

    Embry James Stivers celebrated his first birthday with a Winnie the Pooh party at his home on April 13, 2011. Parents are Steven and Belinda Stivers of Campbellsburg.

    He has two older brothers, Avery and Gentry Stivers.

    Grandparents are Charles and Louise Walling of Pleasureville and Gary and Janice Stivers of Campbellsburg.

  • Drennon Christian Church youth see ‘the nature of god’

    Eric and Amy Bush, a young couple that had recently joined Drennon Christian Church, discussed with my wife and me the possibility of hosting a mini-Bible School type event for local kids based on the idea of finding God in nature. We haven’t held this sort of event during my time at Drennon, so we were thrilled.

    The Campbellsburg High School Senior Class of 1948 held its annual reunion June 14 at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville. Attendees pictured left to right were Margie Leatherman, Sue Hoagland, Goldene Rains, Frances Watkins, Doris Hood, Joe Berry, Rodney Heilman, Edwin Orem and Robert Brent. They have met annually for the last 23 years.

  • Boyer graduates IUSE

    On May 9, Lauren Karel Boyer graduated with distinction from Indiana University Southeast. Lauren earned her B.A. in Psychology during her three years at IUS. While at IUS, Lauren was a member of the Honor’s Program, the Psychology Club, and Lodge Council President and Vice President.  She made the Dean’s List and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology.
