    Luke Satterly is 14 and in the sixth grade.
    “Luke is a quiet, unassuming young man that everyone likes,” principal Steve Frommeyer said. “He always gives his best effort in everything he does.”
    What is your favorite sport?
    Luke’s favorite outdoor sport is football. He plays wide receiver and safety at school. “I like to pass the ball (at home) with my sister or brother, too,” he said.

    Principal Jim Masters chose Will because of the effort he puts into all he does. “One cool thing he did was a demonstration for younger kids of a science class he took on his own,” Masters said.

    Speaking of science...
    Will plans to attend Transylvania University (Western Kentucky is his back-up) with an eye towards pre-pharmacy. “I’m doing a triple major of chemistry, biology and Spanish,” he said.

    Teacher Stephanie Meadows nominated Foree for student of the week.

    She said he has raised his ACT score by five points and is looking at a football scholarship to Thomas Moore College. “He has put in unbelievable hard work,” she said.

    Principal Steve Frommeyer refers to him as the “most improved of the most improved.”

    Favorite subject?
    He said he’s average in academics, but if he had to choose one it’s English class.

  • Eminence Middle School Student of the Week

    Bobby Brewer is 16 and in 8th grade.

    Principal Steve Frommeyer said after a rocky beginning, Bobby has really accomplished a lot. “When he started he was really behind and struggling,” he said. “To his credit he has done a total turn around and is ready for high school.”

    What’s your favorite sport?
    Bobby plays football for Eminence.
    What do you like to do after school?
    Riding bikes.

  • Henry County Middle School Student of the Week

    Kayla Barnes is 12 years old and in 7th grade.
    Principal Zach Woods described Kayla as a quiet leader. “She leads by example,” he said. Guidance counselor Kim Lineman chose Kayla as student of the week.
    “She makes good grades,” she said. “She’s so quiet, but this is an opportunity for her to shine and she should shine.”

    What’s your favorite subject?

    Language Arts - She loves reading and book projects, currently reading “The Lovely Bones.”

  • Local students of the week - New Castle Elementary School

    Chance Morris, 10, is in the 5th grade.
    Principal Lane Morris said he selected Chance because of his work ethic. “He has a great attitude and has made outstanding progress,” he said. “He will be stellar in middle school.”

    What is your favorite outdoor
    activity?

    Chance’s favorite outdoor sport is football and he plays all positions for the Chiefs. “I like a lot of stuff outside except soccer,” he said.
