Shoop III, Lexington Mary Souers, Tiffany Nicole Thomas, Rachel Lorraine Vegh, Charles Bradley West and Lauren Nicole Wood, according to information from UK.

    Smith graduates Summa Cum Laude

    Fleet Smith graduated from Kent State University Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology, according to a news release. Smith is among nearly 3,000 students who received bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, associate and educational specialist degrees during Kent State’s 2016 Fall Commencement ceremony.

  • New Castle Elementary School earns Energy Star certification

    New Castle Elementary School has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Energy Star certification, which signifies that the building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meets strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA, according to a news release from the federal agency.

    Henry County Board of Education members were celebrated at the Jan. 26 meeting in recognition of School Board Appreciation Month. Preschool classes presented each board member with a personalized painted wall plaque depicting the state of the Kentucky, as Danney Chisholm receives his above. Eastern Elementary School Principal Chelsey Tingle, left, handed a personalized basket to each board member. Henry County High Principal Shannon Sageser presented each member with an etched tumbler, created by the school’s engineering class.

    Webb earns honors at Campbellsville
    Courtney Paige Webb of New Castle, a freshman at Campbellsville University, has been named to the spring dean’s list, according to information from the school.

  • New Castle Elementary observes the 100th day of school

    Due to the unexpected snow day on Jan. 30, the Henry County Public Schools’ 100th day of school was delayed until Tuesday, Jan. 31, New Castle Elementary School Prinicipal Tara McMahan noted. When the New Castle students returned to school after the snow day, they observed the 100th day by dressing up as someone 100 years old, decorating a shirt or bringing in 100 of the same item.

    Mrs. Nash’s and Mrs. Davis’ kindergarteners, won the Golden Croc for best hallway behavior, according to information from Principal Tara McMahan.
    Mrs. Buchanan’s second-graders won the Golden Ladle for the best cafeteria behavior.
    Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Rosas’ kindergarteners, won the Golden Clipboard for best attendance.
