  • Family Physicians Associates joins Jewish Phyisicians Group

    Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare announced last week that the Family Physician Associates practice will join the organization’s physician network effective Aug. 1. Partners in the FPA practice - Drs. Jim Smith, David Wallace, Edward Sames, Kenneth Gardner and David Jones – and their office staff will now be a part of the Jewish Physician Group.

  • Old friends reunite for new beauty shop

    Long-time friends and business partners Tracy Foree and Sue Ford recently opened Penn Avenue Salon in Eminence.

    As a grand opening special, they are offering $7 haircuts throughout the month of July.

    Foree said she’s been doing hair for 21 years. Ford has been cutting hair for about 17 years.

    Their specialty is cutting and styling ethnic hair including bi-racial and hispanic hair.

     

  • Bryant sentenced to 50 years

    One of two men charged in connection to a 2008 home invasion in Smithfield has accepted a plea bargain.

    Robert Bryant, of Eminence, and codefendant Johnny Lee Gibson were arrested in May 2008 and charged with breaking into the home of Joe and Cheryl Bibelhauser.

    As part of his plea, Robert Bryant, of Eminence, was sentenced to a total of 50 years.

  • Summer Cooling Program 2010

    The Tri-County Community Action Agency began its Summer Cooling Program, July 12. The agency, located at 125 Park Road in New Castle asks that when applying for assistance to please bring the following:

    Recent electric bill (shut off notice)

    Proof of income (previous month) of everyone in household

    Names, birthdates and social security numbers of everyone in household

    Proof of current address (rent, receipt, lease or deed, property tax bill)

  • FRYSC to hold Hearts of Grace giveaway

    Henry County’s Family Resource Center and Youth Services have partnered with community churches and community members for the Hearts of Grace Giveaway.

    Youth Services Center coordinator Karen Wilson said the overall concept is a yard sale with a twist — everything is free.

  • County parks manager feels at home

    Travis Buchanan, of Cincinnati, has worked as Henry County’s parks manager since April, but said he feels very much at home in the position.

    He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in plant and soil science with an emphasis on turf grass and a minor in business.

     

  • HCPS to resume classes on August 11

    Students in Henry County have about one month of summer vacation remaining!  The county school system will begin their 2010-11 school year on August 11 when students will again catch their buses and find their desks for more learning opportunities.

    Registration for families new to the county begins at the central office at 326 Eminence Road in New Castle.  Parents can call 845-8600 or come by the office to get the information needed to get their children enrolled at any of the district’s schools.
