  • Henry’s jobless rate down from April 2010

    Unemployment rates fell in 97 Kentucky counties between April 2010 and April 2011, while 20 county rates increased and three counties remained the same, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

    Henry County’s unemployment rate of 10.6 for April 2011, was down from 0.1 percent in April 2010 and down one percent from March 2011’s rate of 11.6 percent.

  • Gearing up for NASCAR

    At least one local merchant has plans to lure some of the crowd from the first NASCAR race at the Kentucky Speedway over to spend a little time and money in Henry County.

    Without hesitation David Neville of Campbellsburg’s Capstone Produce Auction said that snagging a NASCAR race just up the road is the biggest opportunity for growth in Henry County right now.

    The Inaugural Quaker State 400 weekend is expected to draw at least 100,000 race fans to the area between Friday, July 7, and Sunday, July 9.

    Dean’s Award
    Issued to students who achieve Dean’s List honors at EKU for three semesters, not necessarily consecutive. A lapel pin is presented to students by the dean of their academic college.

    Dean’s List
    To achieve Dean’s List honors at EKU, students attempting 14 or more credit hours must earn a 3.5 GPA. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 GPA. Students attempting 12 hours must earn a 3.75 GPA.

  • Price makes Pikeville Dean’s List

    Christopher Price, a 2010 HCHS graduate, was named to the Pikeville College Dean’s list. He is the son of Heather Stoeher of Bedford and Lyndon and Chelan Johnson of Pendleton. His spring semester GPA was 3.75.

  • Wilkerson makes CMC Dean’s List

    Jessica Johnson Wilkerson, a 2001 HCHS graduate, was named to the Central Methodist College (Fayetteville, Mo.), Dean’s list for the spring semester. Her parents are Lyndon and Chelan Johnson of Pendleton, and Todd and Sandy Stone of Nicholasville.

  • Engagement: Roberts-Bohannon

    Larry and Debbie Suter of Hatton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daugther, Angela Marie Roberts of Bagdad to Brian Thompson Bohannon of Bagdad.

    The bride-elect is a 2001 graduate of Shelby County High School.

    The groom elect is the son of Judy Bohannon, Bagdad and the late Johnny Bohannon and a 2001 graduate of Shelby County High School.
    The wedding will take place on July 2, 2011. Invitations will be sent.
