  • Wildcats beat Oldham County, 8-4

The Henry County Wildcats beat Oldham County, 7-8, on Friday night in what was the only baseball game for Henry last week due to the weather.

The Wildcats entered this week at 7-8 overall and have 11 games remaining in the regular season before the 31st District tournament arrives later this month.

Henry coach Austin Hunsaker could not be reached for comments about the Oldham game, and no stats were available by press time. The game was at Oldham and lasted eight innings.

  • Warriors already match last year’s wins

After playing one of its best games this season followed by one of its worse in a double header at Calvary Christian on Saturday, the Eminence softball team has now matched its total wins from last year and are an impressive 7-4 heading into this week.

The Warriors were near-perfect in game one on Saturday, getting solid pitching from Brenna Raisor, defense from her teammates and hitting by everyone at the plate in a 11-1 win. But in a complete reversal after a 20-minute break between games, they took a 4-3 loss in game two.

  • Magness named sportsman

There is more to Luke Magness than what you see on the football field — more than his powerful right arm that threw for a school-record 6,280 career passing yards at Henry County High School, or even his ability to use his mind to pick apart defenses.

Magness was the top passer in Class 3A this season with 2,510 yards in the air. He was named the District Four Player of the Year his last two seasons of high school. He was selected and played in the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game. He was named All-State Honorable Mention.
