  • Lady Cats defeat Lady Raiders, 2-0

    The Henry County Lady Cats hosted Walton-Verona Aug. 28 and fell to the Lady Bearcats 25-8, 25-19.

    The Lady Cats fell behind 9-1 and could never work their way back into the first set as Walton dominated at the net and took advantage of Henry County errors.

    The Lady Cats fell into a 6-1 hole in the second set but were able to get a kill by Kaylee Tingle to stop the run from getting worse. After Henry County pulled within three at 6-3, Walton went on an 8-2 run to lead 14-5.

  • Hensley takes 2nd in Hilan tourney

    The Henry County Lady Cats competed in the Gene Hilan Invitational at Juniper Hills Golf Course in Frankfort over the weekend and Maddie Hensley shot a two-over 74 to take second place

    Nikki Perkinson shot 90, Carleigh Peyton shot 110 and Hannah Marowelli shot 136 to give the Lady Cats a total of 410.

    Scott County shot 316 to win the tournament. Rylea Marcum of Scott County took individual honors with a 71.

  • Warriors compete in Rocket Invitational

    The Eminence Warriors cross country team traveled to Shelbyville Saturday for the Shelby County Invitational.

    Bryce Sipes led the varsity boys team with a time of 23:40. Kody Cravens finished the 5-kilometer course in 26:16. In the middle school girls race Sofia Luchini finished the 3-kilometer course in 14:55 while Christian Goldey finished the boys middle school race in 13:09.

     Church Activities

     Smithfield Baptist Church will host a revival from Sept. 17 to 20. The revival begins at 11 a.m. Sept. 17 and at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 to 20. Chaplain Major General Doug Carver will be the guest evangelist.

    Trimble County Hymn Sing will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Milton Baptist Church, 10076 Hwy 421 N. in Milton.

    Ribeiro Ruas, 20, Columbus, Ohio - arrested Aug. 29 at Interstate 71, mile marker 28 south bound, by Trooper Mitchell for speeding; reckless driving; no operator’s license; and improper lane use

  • The regional beef field day is set for Sept. 25

     It’s that time of the year again for the Regional Beef Field Day. 

    This year, it will be held on Monday, Sept. 25 at Todd Rand Farm at 1239 Milton Bedford Pike, Milton. Registration and exhibits starts at 3:30 p.m. and educational talks start at 5 p.m.

     The results of the 4-H Country Hams are as follows:  Class 2007 – Callie Derossett received a blue. Class 2006 -  Blaze Berry received a blue and Leah Southworth received a blue.

    Western Kentucky University’s Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) recently welcomed 14 new members, including a senior from New Castle, bringing the membership total to 21 after the graduation of senior members, according to a news release.
