  • Glorified pracrice for Cats at Gallatin Co.

    Last Tuesday’s cross county meet at Gallatin County was nothing more than a glorified practice for the Henry County squad that is currently aiming towards the Greater Louisville Classic Oct. 4, head coach Ricky Drawbaugh said. But a day after the Cats had a tough practice, they were still able to put together a solid race on the hilly layout.

    For the fifth straight season, the Henry County girls’ golf team has the goal of finishing among the top two teams at its regional tournament to advance to the state tournament for the first time in school history.

  • Warriors earn shutout win for first time, remain undefeated

    The Eminence Warriors got off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2000 by dominating Friday’s football game against Bracken County. With a 46-0 shutout victory, which was in conjunction with Eminence’s homecoming, the Warriors have sealed a spot in the state playoffs for the second straight season and now have their eyes on home field advantage.

    If the Warriors can defeat either Gallatin County this Friday or Frankfort Oct. 24, they will host a playoff game for the first time in school history.

  • Lady Warriors slide backwards in loss

    Eminence’s volleyball team hit a road block last week with one of its worst matches of the season, losing 2-0 (25-6, 25-11) to North Bullitt Thursday night at home. With last Tuesday’s Evangel Christian match canceled due to the storm that swept through the area that left Evangel without electricity, the North loss was Eminence’s lone contest of the week.

  • All EHS runners finish tough Gallatin County course for first time in McClamroch's tenure

    Though Scott McClamroch was not there to see it, each Eminence runner crossed the finish line after completing the tough Gallatin County cross-country course for the first time since McClamroch took over the program three years ago. McClamroch had to miss the meet, but was highly impressed with the results he saw from his team last Tuesday.

  • Wildcats awaiting first serious challenge with another blowout victory

    In what has become a familiar sight for the Henry County football team so far this season, the Wildcats jumped all over their opponent Friday night — dominating the stats on both sides of the ball, holding a team scoreless for the fourth time in as many tries and coming away with a convincing 58-0 win over visiting Pendleton County.

  • Boys' golf team wins again, focus now shifts to regionals

    Williamstown drastically improved its team score from 226 the last time Henry County was pitted against the Demons to a 184 last Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Henry as the visiting Wildcats came away with a three-stoke win, 184-181.

    The week before, Henry shot its best team score of the season with a 173 against Carroll County on its home course. The 181 is right in range with the regional championship less than a week away.

  • HCPS progressing toward CATS goals

    If the hopes of Henry County Public Schools officials hold merit, the winds of change could bring a boost to the district’s CATS scores.

    Gains in portfolio scores at Henry County Middle School and Henry County High School, and gains in math scores at the middle school, gave Superintendent Tim Abrams hope.

    “I’m very excited about the future for both of those schools,” he said, adding that the 2008-2009 school year brings increased expectations for all students.

  • Make sure you;re registered

    I hope and pray everybody who will be 18 by Nov. 4 is registered to vote at their present address. Everyone needs to vote for their choice.
