  • Cash Allen Sharp

    Jerra Beth Sharp announces the birth of her brother, Cash Allen Sharp, born March 18, 2013, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville. He weighed 7 pounds and 6 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long.

    Parents are Jerry Jr. and Bethany Sharp of Campbellsburg.

    Grandparents are Roger and Iva O’Nan, Campbellsburg, and Jerry Sr. and Betty Sharp, Drennon.

  • Bennett Anniversary

    Gene and Frances Ann Bennett of New Castle celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on March 14, 2013. Gene is the son of the late Mack and Ailene Bennett and Frances Ann is the daughter of the late John and Lucille Willoughby.
    Gene and Frances Ann have three daughters and four grandsons.

    Jessie Danielle Boyer and Cody Lee Carver were united in marriage at 6 p.m. March 22, 2013, at the Bloomfield Harvest Church in Bloomfield, Ind.
    The bride is the daughter of Teresa Lynn Ratcliffe, Bloomfield, Ind. and Brent Lee Boyer, Turners Station.
    The groom is the son of Bobbi Ann and Joseph Robert Jones, Coal City, Ind.
    The couple will reside in Coal City, Ind.

  • Eminence Elementary School Student of the Week

    Emma is a 2nd grader at Eminence Elementary.

    What is your favorite subject?

    Math. I like the fun activities we do with math problems. Today we went out side and measured a house, the monkey bars, the high climbing wall and the low climbing wall with a meter stick.

    What do you do for fun?

    I play outside. We act like we build stuff in the sandbox and the clubhouse my dad built. I also like to throw balls for my dog Champ.

  • Registration for Eminence preschool/ kindergarten 2013-2014 school rear

    Registration for Eminence Preschool will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday April 18, and from 9 a.m. to 1p.m., Friday, April 19, at Eminence Elementary School.
    If your child will be 4 years old by Oct. 1, he or she can be registered for the EIS preschool program. Screening is necessary for placement, so it is important to bring your child with you.
    Three-year-old children with a disability or developmental delay can be screened as well.

  • What should I bring to registration?

    Please be ready to present the following documents at registration. These documents must be provided in order for your child to register:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Proof of Income — 4-year-old whose family income is no more than 150 percent above the poverty level.
    • Valid Kentucky immunization certificate
    • Emergency Contact information
    • Proof of residency (drivers license or bill w/ street address)
    • Other health impairments will be discussed during registration

  • Martin indicted for a 3rd time

    A Turners Station man facing charges related to having sex with a minor will face additional charges.

    Joseph David Martin, 39, of Turners Station was indicted in March for complicity to tampering with a witness and complicity to tampering with physical evidence, both Class D felonies.

  • AC fire closes EIS for a day

    Eminence Independent School students had an early day as officials shut down the school on Monday morning due to a non-injury fire in the gymnasium lobby.

    Emergency 911 Dispatch received a call at 9:42 a.m. that the school had a fire in the gymnasium lobby. Eminence Fire Chief Gary Lucas said damage was minimized.

  • Project would expand sewer capacity

    It took several years of planning, saving and jumping through grant hoops, but a project to increase Eminence’s sewer capacity by 250,000 gallons per day is holding water.

    The project would increase capacity at Eminence’s treatment plant from 500,000 gallons to 750,000 gallons per day capacity, and may finally be coming down the pipeline.
