    The Henry County track team had just eight athletes compete at the Eastern Relays, held at the University of Louisville’s track complex Saturday, but the Cats left Louisville with some of their best individual performances of the season.

  • In the interim

    General Manager

    In October 1997, Port Royal Baptist church asked former Campbellsburg Christian Church pastor Carl Rucker to serve as their interim pastor.

    They asked him to serve while they looked for a new pastor. Two weeks into his temporary stay, Rucker was approached again.

    “In the second week in November, they said ‘would you stay with us through December,’ to which I responded that I would,” Rucker said. “About the middle of December, they asked if I would stay with them through 1998.”

    Wednesday, April 23

    Girls in Action (GAs) of Cropper Baptist Church meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. The program is open to girls through age 12.

    Karate classes will be held at the Community Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    Children's Story and Craft hour every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pleasureville Christian Church. Community Library open to the public from 1 to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

    TOPS 298 will meet at Orville Baptist Church. Weigh in 4:30 p.m. and meeting at 5 p.m. New members welcome.

    Concerning the fundraiser we held at Vive Salon & Spa April 12 for my little brother Tommie Tingle - many thanks to all the good people that helped make our fundraiser a huge success! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

    From the many people with donations to all the hard workers - I hesitate to mention you one by one because I don't want to leave anyone out.We had so many wonderful donations for our raffle baskets & our bake sale - and I can't even begin to thank the many people that patiently waited (hours) for a haircut!

  • Davis: Progress is being made in Iraq

    On April 8 and 9, General David Petraeus and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker testified before Congress about the current political and security situation in Iraq. According to both officials, progress in Iraq is significant, but reversible. As a senior Army commander told me recently, "We simply cannot walk out of the Middle East now."

  • Bill Covington is a good man

    The past five years or so have been very difficult watching from the sidelines as my father's name is tarnished in newsprint and court proceedings. My father's voice was silenced allowing for no comment because of legalities. Though I can't speak on his behalf, I feel it is imperative that those in Henry County understand the positive contribution and sacrifice he brought to this small community.

  • Locals make long trek to celebrate Papal mass

    Saturday morning, several Henry County residents embarked on a 30-hour road trip. Jason Harris, Henry County Middle School math teacher, said it was a trip well worth the time.

    They were on a holy pilgrimage of sorts. Their destination? New York City’s Yankee Stadium.

  • CASA - a great way to support Child Abuse Prevention Month

    As the Henry County CARE Team prepares for their 10th Annual Celebration KIDS event, we looked for an agency to feature in highlighting Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention in Henry County. We immediately thought of our friends at CASA. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are building their program in Henry, Oldham and Trimble Counties.   • Judge rules for county in garbage case

    A Circuit Court judge issued a ruling declaring the county’s mandatory garbage ordinance franchise fee was legal and not unreasonable, ending a four-year legal battle for the Henry County.

    The case began the Henry County Concerned Citizens filed a class action law suit in 2004. At the time, attorney William Sturm said he and his clients felt the mandatory garbage collection ordinance and exclusive franchise agreement with Rumpke were “illegal and invalid” and should be declared unconstitutional. In her ruling, Conrad disagreed.
