    Fire departments in Henry County are gearing up for another year of collecting money for the WHAS Crusade for Children.

    Campbellsburg Fire Chief David Noe said despite the major setback of a fire at the Campbellsburg firehouse recently, the department will conduct its charitable effort as usual. “We’re not going to miss a beat this year,” he said. “We’ll just have to work a little harder.”

  • Celebration KIDS a Huge Success!

    The Henry County CARE Team’s Celebration Kids committee would like to thank this great community for helping to make our annual Celebration Kids event a huge success. 

    In this time of economic uncertainty, we had anticipated having our work cut out for us, but we were pleasantly surprised by the very generous outpouring of support from local businesses, schools, agencies, churches and individuals who came through with the needed donations.

  • Thursday mornings with granny

    I look forward to Thursday mornings. This is the day I baby-sit my daughter’s two youngest children while she takes the three older girls to a home-schooling co-op at their church. For five hours I watch over Burt, age four and a half, and Mary, two. This is fun and interesting.

  • Warrions sending 1 to track regionals

    With the regular season drawing to a close, the Eminence High School track team is set to take just one athlete, senior Ed Berry, to the regional championships.

    Berry will head to the meet in Danville Saturday to take part in four events, including his specialty — high jump.

  • Henry County Public Schools to hold Young Composers Concert

    HCPS will hold a Young Compsers concert, sponsored by the Henry County Youth Service Center and the Henry County Band Boosters in partnership with the University of Louisville School of Music


    The concert will be held Tuesday, May 19, at 7 p.m., in the Henry County Middle School commons area and will featuring the music of Henry County Middle School and High School Student Composers.


  • Park may open in June

    General Manager

    Almost a year after talk about refurbishing the Eminence City swimming pool culminated in a meeting that ultimately terminated the project, a new park is about to open in the pool’s place.

    Monday night, Eminence City Council member Drane Stephens said functional bathrooms and clearing up any safety issues are the last barriers to the park’s opening.

    “My goal was June 1, I don’t know if we can make it or not, but that was my goal,” he told the rest of the council.

    Relay For Life in Henry County is scheduled for Friday, June 26, at the Henry County High School Track. Below is a list of upcoming activities that are taking place throughout the county in an ongoing effort to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society (all proceeds will benefit Henry County Relay For Life):

  • Community Calendar for the week of May 13, 2009

    Wednesday, May 13

    Karate classes will be held at the Community Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    Children’s Story and Craft hour every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pleasureville Christian Church. Also, the community library at the church is open to the public from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

    Angel Food Ministries will be taking orders at New Castle Christian Church from 9 a.m. til noon.

  • Eminence student arrested after making threats

    An Eminence student was being held at a juvenile detention center after being arrested Wednesday, April 29.
