    The Henry County Youth Football League will hold sign ups at the Henry County Recreational and Services Park Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

    Children in Henry County, including Eminence, in grades K-6 are eligible to play in the league.

    Roy and Judith Jackson

    Roy and Judith Jackson of Campbellsburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 26, 2015.
    They were married at Bethel Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio and now attend New Castle First Baptist Church in New Castle.
    The couple has farmed for more than 50 years and raise Angus and Sim/Angus cattle on Reality Farms LLC with their son.

    UK students named to Dean’s List
    Twelve University of Kentucky students hailing from Henry County have been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2015 semester.  
    A total of 6,001 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance.

  • June adult ed prize winner

    Joyce Booth is June’s winner of the monthly Henry County Adult Education drawing. Booth has completed more than 40 hours of work in reading and math.  Her prize choice was a gift basket from Shelby RECC with a gas gift card donated by Dr. Bob Wagoner. The monthly incentive program was created to encourage students to “hang in there” until they meet their goals. Programs offered at the Adult Education Center include: GED classes, college brush up, NCRC employment certification, Para-Educator certification and more.

    Three local students representing Henry County and Eminence high schools recently attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Kentucky Seminar held at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond from June 10 to 14.

  • Cruising the insect superhighway

    If there’s one interstate I regret not having easy access to, it’s the so-called bug superhighway meant to facilitate millions of monarchs migrating from wintering grounds in Mexico to patches of milkweed in the Midwest.

    Developing a long garden spot to shepherd these butterflies on their 3,000-mile round-trip journey to reproduce is the centerpiece of the new federal plan meant to curb the steep drop in monarch numbers.

    Church Activities and Services

    Eminence Christian Church (DOC) will be having its Vacation Bible School on June 23-25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for children ages 3 - 12 years old. It will be exploring stories from the Old Testament about food. Come join us for food, fellowship, and Bible study!
