  • Get ready for the 2014 Kentucky Wood Expo on Sept. 18-19

    UK Forestry Extension is excited to announce numerous educational activities that they are coordinating Sept. 18-19 at the Kentucky Wood Expo held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington. All programs are free, but do require the purchase of a Kentucky Wood Expo admission ticket ($7 at the gate or $5 in advance).

    During my childhood years, I learned the most important and basic skills a guy needs to survive in this world.
    I learned how to take care of myself and to share responsibilities for the home I shared with my parents and my sister Carolyn.
    Some of those skills were taught; others were learned from observation.
    I learned to hang up my wash cloth and towel and to rinse out the bathtub.

  • Art and crafts guild show offers locally made gifts

    Fall-like temperatures welcomed several seasonal art pieces to the Henry County Arts Guild fall Arts and Crafts Show Saturday at the 4-H Building. Booths offered shoppers a variety of items from jewelry, soaps, postcards, paintings and more.

  • News briefs: Expect roadwork on 157, 573

    Roadwork continues on Hwy. 157 and 573
    Motorists in Henry County should watch for crews working on two road improvement projects during the week, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
    These projects include:
    • Hwy. 157, Sulphur Road —  Lane closures and delays possible between Scobie Lane/Beasley Lane and Hwy. 146 (mile points 7.2 to 9.7) due to roadway resurfacing.

  • Family captures state fair prizes

    All three children of Jon and Sarah Adams of Bethlehem won ribbons for artwork at the Kentucky State Fair, according to information from the parents. Gabe, 15, won fifth place for sculpture in open class grades seven through nine. Grace, 11, won second place for her
    peacock painting in open class grades three through six. Abigail, 7, won third place for her bluebird painting in open class grades kindergarten through second.

    Church Activities and Services

    Point Pleasant Christian Church Homecoming at 4724 Property Rd. will be held on Sun. Sept 20, 5 to 8 p.m. rain or shine. A pot luck meal will be served 5 to 6 p.m.  From 6 to 8 p.m. The Miller’s Folly Bluegrass Band and Toby Nutt-Storytelling will entertain. Bring a chair. We will have crafts, gifts, antiques, homemade goodies and candy available. There is no charge for the evening, but we ask that you consider a love offering.
