  • Thanks for Diabetes Education Day


    Thanks to Mona Huff, the vendors, and all the speakers who gave the life-saving presentations at the Diabetic Education Day on Saturday. I learned from each and every one of them. We were taught and given tools to put on the brakes and control this raging disease.

    What an awesome gift to have so many health professionals in one place so willing to answer questions and help. Most of us are aware of the complications we may face and the more we know, the healthier we can be with hope for the future.

  • Eminence is a wonderful, caring community

    I would like to give a shout out for

     this wonderful community of Eminence.

    Our son Briar Rucker, 4 years old, was diagnosed with a rare brain cyst in August 2011.

    In January, he had a surgery which was unsuccessful. He will have a second surgery in a couple of weeks. This community has come to pray for our family as well as helped us through donations.

  • Circuit Court Clerk supports Lyle

    When I started with the Henry County Circuit Clerk’s office in 1982, things were a lot different than they are today.

    We issued driver’s licenses with a typewriter and a Polaroid camera. Now, all licenses are issued through a web-based system that does it all. From doing a national driving record check on each person, to presenting the license with the person’s information encoded on the back.

    At that time, we also issued boat licenses and maintained all court records for Circuit and District with a typewriter and copy machine.

  • Meet Gary Moore

    There will be a fundraiser for Gary Moore who is running for 4th District Congressional seat. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at New Castle Elementary School. This will be a great opportunity to meet the candidate and to talk to him about your concerns and where he stands on important issues that effect our county, state and federal   governments. There will be food and drinks available. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you.

  • Bagdad Days to honor war heroes

    I am writing to inform the public of a community event that will honor Kentucky’s Military Heroes. On May 12, Bagdad Days, a community event sponsored by Bagdad Baptist Church, will be celebrating 20 years. 

    As part of this celebration, the community will pay special honor to those Kentucky individuals who have served in military combat for our country.

    We hear a lot of rhetoric these days, however we deserve someone with a real vision and a proven record to serve us in the U.S. Congress. Gary Moore is the only candidate in the field with the experienced leadership necessary for real change in Washington.

    Moore’s plan for a balanced budget amendment is a commitment to change the culture in Washington.  While others may agree in theory, Moore is the only candidate with the track record to prove it.
