  • Thanks for help with Bill Downey benefit

On behalf of Bill and his family, we want to thank everyone for helping make the benefit a success.

We would like to thank all of you who donated food, items for the silent auction and monetary contributions.

A very special thanks goes out to Fred Porter and Cropper Baptist Church for the use of their facility.

Last, but by no means least, to the Better Daze Band, Thomas Hood, and Shades of Pink for their awesome music, which was enjoyed by all.

The money raised was much needed and greatly appreciated by the Downey family.

  • Thank you for support of Derby fundraiser

Thank you for all of your support for the Henry County Senior Citizens Derby Eve Fundraiser.

To everyone who worked, came, or donated items, a big thank you. We had another successful year because of you.

  • Gina Lyle for circuit court clerk

As most know, election day is just around the corner. Gina Lyle and Nick Hawkins are running for circuit court clerk. Both are great people and have great personalities. But I believe Lyle is the best candidate.

I have nothing against Hawkins, and he is a great guy. But experience wins the race. Lyle has a total of 24 years under her belt. I feel that no one is more capable of running the clerk’s office than her.

  • Lincoln-Reagan Dinner was a success

President Reagan said “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny… If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.” It is important that we are educated and make informed decisions when we step into the voting booth.

Each year the Henry County Republican Party holds it’s annual Lincoln-Reagan Dinner, and invites Government officials, and candidates to speak and meet with area voters.

  • Lyle: Experience counts

Let me begin by saying that I am not a politician, nor do I claim to be. What I am is someone who loves what they do and hopes to continue doing it for many years.  I suppose the first thing I should do, though, is explain to you exactly what my job is.

  • Go Out and VOTE!

  • Thanks for Diabetes Education Day

Thanks to Mona Huff, the vendors, and all the speakers who gave the life-saving presentations at the Diabetic Education Day on Saturday. I learned from each and every one of them. We were taught and given tools to put on the brakes and control this raging disease.

What an awesome gift to have so many health professionals in one place so willing to answer questions and help. Most of us are aware of the complications we may face and the more we know, the healthier we can be with hope for the future.

  • Eminence is a wonderful, caring community

I would like to give a shout out for

     this wonderful community of Eminence.

Our son Briar Rucker, 4 years old, was diagnosed with a rare brain cyst in August 2011.

In January, he had a surgery which was unsuccessful. He will have a second surgery in a couple of weeks. This community has come to pray for our family as well as helped us through donations.

  • Circuit Court Clerk supports Lyle

When I started with the Henry County Circuit Clerk’s office in 1982, things were a lot different than they are today.

We issued driver’s licenses with a typewriter and a Polaroid camera. Now, all licenses are issued through a web-based system that does it all. From doing a national driving record check on each person, to presenting the license with the person’s information encoded on the back.

At that time, we also issued boat licenses and maintained all court records for Circuit and District with a typewriter and copy machine.
