    A moral responsibility

The historic wrought iron fence, surrounding the Point Pleasant Cemetery that is located in a curve on KY 573, was silently removed last week. Its purpose had been to prevent speeding cars and weather related accidents from demolishing the tombstones. There seems to be no one in the community who witnessed it being taken down.

  • Scrap your idea

I’m writing in regards to the Point Pleasant Cemetery in Bethlehem.

This is an old graveyard, but people are still buried there quite often.

There used to be an old iron fence around a big portion of it. Notice I wrote, “Used to be.”

It sits in a very sharp curve off of KY 573. There’s been several wrecks there over the years and thanks to the fence it prevented a lot of damage to the cemetery and possibly a fatality.

  • A letter of thanks

The players, parents and coaches of the Eminence Warriors’ youth football teams would like to thank those who supported our program this year. Our sponsors include Citizens Deposit Bank, Steel Technologies, Perry’s Hardware, Scriber’s Station on Elm, Eminence Speaker, Affordable Signs & Apparel, Prewitt’s, John Logan Brent, Lewis and Terri Laroche, and Wayne and Lou Gunnell. Your financial support provided the necessary equipment, uniforms and materials needed to allow these kids the opportunity to play football.

  • Thank you for FFA support

I would like to thank each of the 373 people who made the voluntary donation to the ag tag program in 2013.  I know that it is not something that you have to do and the Henry County FFA appreciates it very much!

  • Donate blankets for soldiers

I am trying to help out my “adopted son in law” who was recently deployed to Afghanistan.
His group will be in un-insulated tents this winter.  Temperatures fall well below zero.
Looking to send him and his fellow soldiers some warm (new) blankets or any other supplies that you think will be helpful.  As we are snug and warm in our heated homes, our soldiers will be sleeping in a tent. They will be having a cold winter there.
