  • Thanks for support in Pleasureville

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that came out to the 2015 Light up Pleasureville. It was very humbling to have so many community members support me and the event. It was estimated almost 300 people came out to take advantage of all the activities.

  • Vote 'no' to increased alcohol sales

Please vote no on Dec. 15 in regard to increased alcohol sales in Henry County. If we do not vote down the effort to make Henry County “wet,” Henry County will be forever changed.

  • Easier access to alcohol will compound problem

As spiritual leaders, we desire to offer help with the issues that most people try to mask with alcohol and drugs, and with the upcoming local option election on Dec. 15, we want to convey that our hearts are concerned for the people of our county in which we serve.

  • Thanks for cleanup efforts

On Saturday, Nov. 7, nearly 500 Henry County citizens put on their safety gear and assisted with Henry County’s annual roadside litter clean up.

Working under the direction of Henry County Planning and Zoning and Henry County Solid Waste Department, these citizens cleaned 200 miles of Henry County roads. Through the efforts of 34 teams, over 1,200 bags of trash were collected.

  • Disappointed with county ambulance charges

I’ve lived in Eminence most of my life. Work there and play there.  Actually love my small town life.  This past spring I had a heart abnormality that scared the doctors and myself enough that I had to be taken to the hospital from the clinic in Eminence.

  • Let me tell you something...

Diabetes is not just a problem of the individual.  Diabetes is a problem of the family and society.  Diabetes is not a disease of the weak-willed. It is not a disease just for the obese. No one with diabetes decided to not care about their health. We all care about our health and do the best that we can.

  • Not taking donations

The Henry County Senior Citizens group would like to thank each and every one who has supported us over the years — you all have been fantastic.

As you know, we no longer ask for donations for the seniors from anyone. So, if someone approaches you for a donation in the name of the senior citizens, please keep in mind they are not a member of our group.

    Thank you and God bless!

  • Clarifying article

I saw an article in the Local about the Henry County Help Center and my leaving. This is true but my reason is not because I have family.

It is more about heavy lifting — no volunteers that can lift that many heavy boxes — and also it’s about the lack of communication and some things that may need to be changed.

  • Henry County Toy Run 2015

We are writing to apologize for the error regarding the registration and start times of the Henry County Toy Run this past Saturday.

This is the first year that the times were different and, unfortunately, the flyer from our 2014 Toy Run, with only a date change, was submitted to the Henry County Local and sent home with students.

  • Unhappy with water

After going almost two months with low water pressure and dirty water, which the city clerk told me the water was safe to drink, how could the water have been safe to drink when the bottom of my dog’s water bowl and my tub was covered with brown stuff?

Instead of getting a break on the water portion of our bill, our water bill has doubled. We are still using less water, but pay twice as much. I would like an explanation from the city about the increase and why this is happening.
