  • Endorsement for Massie

Thomas Massie: The man for the job

When they find themselves in Washington among 434 other lawmakers looking to be heard, members of Congress either emerge as leaders who remain true to the people for their districts and who others follow, or they end up as run-of-the-mill politicians who simply go along to get along.

  • Letter of withdrawal

My name is Howard Roberts and I am a candidate for the Pleasureville City Commission. At this time, I am, regrettably, withdrawing from the upcoming election. I wish to thank all the people who supported me, and explain the reason for my withdrawal.

A question was raised about my eligibility to run for the city commission. It was argued that I had not lived in the city long enough. The law says that a candidate must live in the city limits one-year prior to the election date.

  • Be part of the CURE for bullying

Bullying has come a very, very long way since my middle school days.

At that time, it consisted mainly of prank calls, hallway teasing and on one occasion a particularly clever stunt during PE in which one of the boys in my class put a frog in my pocket without me knowing. The ensuing shriek, I have no doubt, was quality entertainment for him.

The prank calls at home were particularly cruel. The “surprise gifts” in my backpack were quite annoying.

The hallway gossip was brutal. And this was just seventh grade.

  • Cook's cares

Let me add to the comments regarding the proposed CVS Pharmacy for Eminence and the impact on Cook’s  long’ time establishment in Henry County.  A small bit of information amid volumes of rhetoric written in the past few months.  Not to even express an opinion as to the validity of a new business in Henry County, but to inform the public as to the character of the existing one.

  • Jon Park for Eminence City Council Endorsement

Eminence is blessed with many good citizens wanting to get involved in their local politics; Citizens wanting involvement representing and implementing a positive direction for their City. Eminence voters are fortunate to have multiple choices as to who represents their city and concerns. They are especially fortunate to have Jon Park as a choice for Eminence City Council.

  • Flat tire makes for memorable trip

    By Candy Clarke

The season for moose and caribou hunting in the Interior of Alaska was about to end. On Wednesday night, neither my husband, Frank, nor I had a moose. I suggested we try hunting for caribou Thursday - something we had not yet tried. We secured the necessary permits and loaded our gear. We were all smiles and optimistic about our new venture.

  • Ride For Roadie Poker Run/Benefit

I would like to take this time to thank the following people.

Eric Goodrich & Karen Phillip’s for getting the Poker Run together and having an awesome ride.  To all the riders that came out and supported me, Connie Scriber for letting us have the event at Scriber’s Station & all his workers.  To all the people that came to the benefit after the Poker Run.  To Affordable Signs for doing all of our shirts in such a short notice! To Connie Singleton for putting the event together.

  • Here’s what we expect from Courtney Baxter

In the Sept. 27 edition of the Oldham Era, a candidate for Commonwealth Attorney ran an ad regarding local attorneys’ support of Courtney Baxter for Commonwealth Attorney. The candidate asks, in his ad, “What do they expect to receive in return?” As past-president and 30-year member of the local bar association, the former head of the Public Defenders Office, contributing member of the committee that wrote the local rules for civil and criminal practice, and Courtney Baxter support, I can answer that question.

    We expect:
