  • Commissioner says Main Street decision will be a matter of priorities

    Don't tell me where your priorities are. Show me where you spend your money and I'll show you what you are. How true!

    The debate over the value of the Main Street Program in New Castle is simply a matter of priorities of how a tax payer's money is spent. The choice before the New Castle City Commission is either to keep funding the Main Street Program hoping to gain new grant money from Frankfort sometime in the future or change directions, invest what New Castle is spending on Main Street to repair and renovate the Locker now for the community to use.

  • How can you reduce global warming?

    Here lately everyone has been talking about Global Warming. A lot of celebrities come out and say we all need to do our part. So how can you do your part to help global warming? You can start by eating less meat. Yes, it's true. This works by reducing the amount of livestock that then decreases the amount of methane flatulence from the animals. Scientists now say cutting 10 percent of red meant would cut the gasses emitted by cows, sheep and goats that contribute to global warming.

  • Former mayor, commissioner urges participation in program

    As a former New Castle Mayor and Commission member, I would like to take this opportunity to urge the present Commission to continue its participation in the Main Street Program. I feel that the small fraction of the city budget set aside for this commitment to our future is a small price for the benefits that the City has received and will continue to receive from this program.
