Warriors rout KCD, Williamstown

The Eminence Warriors softball team picked up two wins last week in convincing fashion.

On Friday they needed just five innings to take care of Williamstown, 12-2.

After retiring the Lady Demons in order in the first inning, the Warriors scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Serena Doktor led off with a hit. Lyndsay Craigmyle followed by reaching on an error by the pitcher. Savannah Mertz hit a two-run triple to deep left field with one out. Brenna Raisor got a two-out single to score Mertz.

Track Cats host NCKTC, All-...

The Henry County track team hosted two meets last week. On April 30 they hosted an all comers meet with the boys team finishing first and the girls team second. Several individuals set personal records in one of the final tune ups for the regional meet to be held today at North Oldham.

The Eminence track team also participated and got a first place performance from Shelby Armstrong in the long jump.

On Thursday the Wildcats hosted the North Central Ky. Track Conference Championships with Eminence again participating in the event.

On Saturday, April 27, Henry County Sheriff Danny Cravens participated in the national Drug Take Back Day.

He and several of his deputies volunteered their time to host the event, which encourages citizens to bring their unwanted or unused prescription medications to a specific location for safe disposal. This protects the homeowner in a number of ways, including theft prevention.

On a recent Monday morning, one of Donna’s friends stopped by the house to pick her up.  They were headed to Paducah for the annual quilt show held in that city.  I helped Donna load her luggage into her friend’s car and waved them off.

ACT glitch delays testing

School districts throughout the state changed their year-end testing schedules last week after an online glitch prevented students from completing tests.

Nancy Rodriguez, spokeswoman for Kentucky Department of Education, said students across the state will finish with paper and pencil.

“Tuesday and Wednesday several districts reported they were having problems,” Rodriquez said. “The vendor notified us that the problem would be corrected but by Friday we were told that wouldn’t be the case.”

“Starting at the age of 20, we lose about 1 percent of our aerobic fitness each year,” Dr. Franklin says. “A walking program can improve that fitness from 10 to 20 percent in three months. That’s the same as 10 to 20 years of rejuvenation.”

Town and Country Homemaker Club shows well at State Cultural Arts Competition.  Melissa Beatty received a blue and champion in pen and ink with roughing. Yvonne Clark received a blue for her pen and ink,  a blue on her beaded jewelry, a blue on her original design jewelry, and a blue on her decorative painting. And Ruth Earl Harrod received a blue on her knitting and a blue and champion on her beaded scarf.
