The Smith-Lever Act of 1914 provided for the Cooperative Extension Service across the United States. While some counties developed their County Extension Service earlier, Henry County’s first County Extension Agent was hired in 1925.
The Henry County Lady Cats made the short journey to Eminence Dec. 8 and came away with a 51-28 win. The game showed marked improvement for the young Warriors while Henry County got their first victory of the season.
Megan Payton dominated inside in the early going and showed some shooting range with a 3-pointer to open the game. Payton scored nine points in the first quarter as the Cats jumped out to a 14-3.
When the Henry County Wildcats met the Eminence Warriors on Dec. 9 a large crowd showed up well before tipoff of the varsity game. In fact it was probably the largest crowd that many of the players involved in the junior varsity game had ever performed before.
A large crowd is no surprise when two rivals play but this crowd seemed larger than usual. Two things could have contributed to the higher than usual turnout.
