Warriors fall to Bardstown, CAL

The Eminence Warriors baseball team played two games last week. On Wednesday they lost to Bardstown 19-0 at home and on Thursday they traveled to Louisville to take on Christian Academy and lost 4-1.

The Warriors got a strong pitching performance from Trevor Payton and Travis Bell but could not muster enough offense for the win.

KSP holding training session at HCHS Saturday

The Kentucky State Police Post 5 and Henry County Sheriff’s Office will hold a joint active shooter training session Saturday, May 11, at the Henry County High School.  

The training is designed to improve law enforcement’s response to school shootings.

H.C. man hit by machete

An unidentified assailant attacked a Henry County man with a machete at his home Monday morning.

Christopher Cooper, 29, of Pleasureville said he didn’t know who attacked him at about 4:30 a.m.

Man charged in machete attack

A Pleasureville man has been charged with an alleged machete-attack.

Donald Austin Broughton, 26, was arrested Thursday, May 9, by Kentucky State Police with the help of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in connection with the assault of a Bethlehem man.

KSP Det. Tim Moore and Deputy U.S. Marshal Jim Mitchell found Broughton at his brother’s house in Shelby County.

Wildcats' Armstrong signs with LWC

Henry County Wildcat track athlete Austin Armstrong signed on May 3 with Lindsey Wilson to compete in throwing events with the Blue Raiders next year.

Armstrong, who has competed for the Wildcat track team mostly in shot put and discus, was excited about the opportunity to compete on the college level.

Warriors rout KCD, Williamstown

The Eminence Warriors softball team picked up two wins last week in convincing fashion.

On Friday they needed just five innings to take care of Williamstown, 12-2.

After retiring the Lady Demons in order in the first inning, the Warriors scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Serena Doktor led off with a hit. Lyndsay Craigmyle followed by reaching on an error by the pitcher. Savannah Mertz hit a two-run triple to deep left field with one out. Brenna Raisor got a two-out single to score Mertz.

Rotary Club welcomes members

Eminence Rotary Club inducted two new members on April 22nd, 2013.  Pictured are club President, Melvin Shiltz and member Michael Duncan welcoming new members Jill Fallis, Administrator of Homestead Nursing Center and Doug Schlosnagle, CEO of   United Citizens Bank and Trust Company.  The Eminence Rotary Club has been supporting The Henry County Community since 1928. Gov. orders Medicaid expansion

Thousands of Henry Countians will have access to health coverage beginning in 2014, when the Commonwealth expands Medicaid as directed by Governor Steve Behsear.

Beshear announced last week that he would expand the Medicaid health program for 308,000 Kentuckians in concert with the Affordable Care Act. The expansion will create an estimated 17,000 new jobs, $15.6 billion positive economic impact on the state.

Sheep attacked by dogs

A pack of dogs attacked a Henry County couple’s sheep herd May 4, killing seven.

Adriana Plum received a call from her husband Saturday after he witnessed a pack of dogs attack sheep near their home and farm on Jackson Road. Plum said the dogs traveled in a pack frequenting an open field near their farm.
