Hepatitis A, a highly contagious infection that targets the liver, is on the rise in Kentucky.
Although no cases have been confirmed in Henry County, North Central District Health Department Environmental Director David Cammack urged caution.
“We’re so close to Louisville, which is experiencing an outbreak, that we want to get the word out to educate people about what’s going on,” he said.
According to Kentucky’s Department of Public Health, 214 cases were reported in Jefferson County alone as of April 16. One person has died from the disease since the outbreak began.
