  • Wildcats fall to Bearcats in 8...

The crazy spring weather continued to wreak havoc on the Henry County Wildcats’ baseball season. For most of the season it has been snow that has either cancelled games or made it impossible to practice outside. This time it was the wind.

Coach Stuart Dill said the wind made some fly balls almost unplayable in Henry County’s 8-7 extra inning loss to Anderson County on Thursday in Lawrenceburg.

  • Lady Cats win three in a row

The Henry County Lady Cats hosted the Walton-Verona Bearcats on May 24 and came away with a 2-1 win that was not decided until the final out of the game. The Lady Cats’ Aly Stanley played a big role on the mound and at the plate as she scored the winning run in the fifth inning after getting a base hit and stealing second and third, then coming in on a hit by Paige DeBurger. Stanly went the distance on the mound, giving up six hits, four walks and striking out six. The Bearcats only run came in the seventh inning and was unearned.

  • Brackets and more brackets

Let me start by saying I am an extremely lucky man. Take my complaining with a grain of salt. I have a great family and a job that I enjoy 95 percent of the time.

Until this year’s March Madness began I would have said 100 percent of the time. But this year I have had to work on the Henry Hoopla brackets a lot more. Last year I had a little more help. And last year we did not have nearly as many entrants.

  • Warriors fall to Greyhounds

The young Eminence Warrior baseball team continued to struggle last week as they dropped games to Trimble County 11-1, Owen County 13-1 and Paris 11-1. However, the Warriors are showing improvement from last year.

In the game against Paris Friday night Eminence trailed by just three runs going into the fifth inning. Through four innings the Warriors had only one error and had not given up any walks. Austin Jones and Jalen Dixie showed good command of the strike zone and the defense held behind them. But in the fifth inning the Warriors’ defense fell apart.

  • Warriors fall to Frankfort

The Eminence Warriors hosted the Frankfort Lady Panthers on Mar. 26 and fell 20-1.

Daphna Dale scored the Warriors’ run in the second inning and Samantha Thompson got the RBI.

The Lady Panthers scored 10 runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third and six in the fourth.

Eminence fell to 0-5 on the season while Frankfort improved to 1-3.

  • Lady Cats fall to Valkyries in 8...

The Henry County Lady Cats opened their season at home on March 18 and fell to Sacred Heart 5-4 in eight innings.

The Lady Cats struck first when they scored a run in the bottom of the second. Katie James laid down a suicide squeeze bunt with two outs to score Alison Harmon who was running for Madison Rabourn. Rabourn singled with one out to start the rally.

The Cats gave up their lead in the top of the fifth when Sacred Heart got two runs on a single, two errors, a sacrifice and a fielder’s choice groundout.
