  • Another big win for the Warriors

    The Eminence Warriors are playing their best football of the season, head coach Steve Frommeyer said, and they proved it Friday night with another big win to improve to 7-1 on the season. This time, it was Bishop Brossart who left Warrior Field disappointed after Eminence jumped out to a huge early lead and cruised in for a 54-0 victory.

  • Warriors face tough runners at...

    In one of their largest cross-country races of the season, the Eminence Warriors competed at the Dragon Invitational, hosted by South Oldham High School, Saturday afternoon.

    Eminence had one runner in the boys’ varsity race and seven in the girls’ race, and was led by Trey Hernandez and Candace Wells — the only two EHS runners to crack the top 100 in the individual standings.

  • Soccer teams here to stay

    There were highs and lows. There were victories. Losses. Speed bumps. High-fiving moments. Injuries. Celebrations. Road blocks.

    But along the way, regardless of what the scoreboard said, these players continued to make history and continued to pave the way for future soccer teams at Henry County High School. And when it was all said and done last week, they were just happy that they got the chance to play.

    It was a season full of firsts for the Henry County boys’ soccer team, which accumulated with a 9-0 loss to Shelby County in the Wildcats first try in the 16th District tournament Monday night.

    The Henry County Ladycats ran into the best team they have played all season Monday night, which also happened to be the opening round of the 16th District tournament and the season finale for the Cats’ inaugural season.

  • Lady Warriors end season on high...

    Eminence’s volleyball team put up a good fight in its final match of the season, but came up just short as host Anderson County sent the Lady Warriors away after two games Monday night in the opening round of the 28th District tournament.

    Eminence, the No. 4 seed, played the underdog role well in the opening game of the best-of-three series, holding the early lead and building it to 11-7 midway through the eye-popping start. Anderson, the No. 1 seed, then used a couple of spurts to even up the scoreboard and open up its own lead.

    The fourth class of the Eminence High School Hall of Fame was recognized at halftime of the high school football game Friday night and officially inducted the following day. It includes two current EHS football coaches, two former superintendents, a librarian, a school board member, a golfer, and a former teacher and coach.

  • Warriors race on 'very...

    At Eminence’s cross-country practice last Friday — the day before the Warriors would compete at the Capital View Classic — coach Scott McClamroch told his runners the course would be “a bit challenging but not too bad.” He found out otherwise the following day when his runners raced on the toughest course they will see all season long. With very few flat spots and long, windy hills, Capital View has a reputation as being a tough course that produces slow times.

  • Ladycats close out regular...

    Playing in the first-ever All “A” Classic State Volleyball Tournament, Henry County’s volleyball team won its pool play, advanced to the Gold Division for the top 16 teams and went 3-2 during the two-day event. The Ladycats had the 28th District tournament — which started just a few days later — on their minds, but still left the Mid-America Sports Complex with solid performances after two games Friday night and three games Saturday.
