The Henry County High School cross country team hosted a county-wide elementary cross country race on Thursday at Harry Hill Park. Ninety-four students from Eastern, New Castle and Campbellsburg Elementary schools participated in the one-mile race.

Third-grader Luke Lyons of Campbellsburg Elementary won the boys race with a time of 7:46.26. Another third-grader, Luther Davis of New Castle was second just six seconds later. Fourth-grader Ben Beccera of Campbellsburg was third in 8:25.94.

  • Warriors overcome Demons,...

The Eminence Warriors’ volleyball team had their first close match of the season on Aug. 28 at home against the Williamstown Lady Demons and came away with a hard-fought 25-20, 25-23 victory.

The first game was very close early on as neither team could string together a long rally. The Lady Demons led 3-2 but then the Warriors went up 8-5 after two aces by Brie Prewitt.

  • Cats fight for 14-7 win

Heat, a hostile environment and an ailing quarterback did not deter the Henry County Wildcats as they clawed their way to a hard-fought 14-7 win over the host Carroll County Panthers Friday night.
The Wildcats played most of the game without the services of their starting quarterback Brennen Peniston who had been ill most of the week.
“Brennen really tried to go but, bless his heart, he was just too sick,” said coach Jason Spencer. “Austin Hartsell stepped in and really did a good job leading the offense.”

  • Lady Cats go to the wire with...

It was a barn burner at Henry County last week as the Lady Cats hosted district foe Owen County. The Lady Cats came out on top in the close 3-2 match.

The Lady Cats played the Lady Rebels Thursday night and started the first game slowly, falling behind 5-0. The Lady Cats worked their way back into the game and eventually tied the score at 10-10 on an ace by Kim Barmore.

  • Eagles fly past Warriors

The Shawnee Golden Eagles took the first play from scrimmage and turned it into a 65-yard touchdown run and never looked back against the host Eminence Warriors Friday night on their way to a 50-6 victory.

  • Beckley key in boys' golf...

Sometimes in high school golf the fifth player can go through most of the season without his score counting in the team results, but that was not the case for Jakob Beckley on Thursday at the Henry County Country Club.

Beckley finished his round Thursday with a 55, which normally wouldn’t put him in contention to score among the top four golfers on the team. But Dillon Allen had an off day and Beckley’s score was one stroke better which gave the Wildcat golf team a one-stroke win over the Owen County Rebels.
