    The Henry County middle and elementary school cross country teams concluded their season this past weekend at the state championships in the Meet of Champions at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.

    The elementary teams ran a 3k race while the middle school runners ran a 4k race. Every runner came away with a personal record.

    The Henry County Wildcats’ soccer team played one of their best games of the season Oct. 14 in the district tournament against the Owen County Rebels. Two nights later the Wildcats gave a game effort but were undone by an outstanding individual effort against Carroll County in the district finals.

    The Henry County Lady Cats’ soccer team fell a little short of defending their district title after the host Gallatin County Lady Wildcats scored two first half goals and then held on in the second half for their first district championship.

    Gallatin County started the game strong and had several chances early but Lady Cat goalkeeper Sophie Hughes made two saves in the first eight minutes to keep the teams even.

    The Henry County Wildcats hosted the Central Yellowjackets Friday in a big district showdown that saw the perennial football powers from Louisville pull away in the second half for a 20-0 win.

    The first half was a defensive battle with neither team putting points on the board. Central had two good opportunities but the Wildcat defense was able to make big plays to stop both threats.

  • Warriors fall to Paris, 41-0


    The Paris Greyhounds traveled to Eminence Friday night and came away with a 41-0 win in a game that saw a fight break out between the two teams.

    The fight occurred just before halftime after the Greyhounds had kicked off to the Warriors. The Greyhounds had just scored their third touchdown of the night and a scuffle occurred between an Eminence player and a Grey hound that he was blocking on the play near the Paris bench. The Paris team left their bench area as other Warriors came to the defense of their teammate.

  • Lady Cats finish with a win


    The Henry County Lady Cats’ volleyball team closed out the regular season Thursday night by honoring their five seniors, Kelsey McGuire, Molly Williamson, Paige DeBurger, Megan Payton and Victoria Marcum.

    After gifts were handed out before the game, the team gave themselves the best senior night gift that they could get – a win over Waggener.

    The Henry County cross country team traveled to Versailles Saturday to compete in the Woodford County Invitational and had some of their best results of the season.

    Josh Logsdon had a time of 19:18 to lead the Cats, while Brandon Handley also finished under twenty minutes with a time of 19:53.
