    The Henry County Lady Cats volleyball team had a busy opening week, playing three matches three days in a row. They came away with a victory over Williamstown and losses to Shelby County and Walton-Verona.

    The Lady Cats traveled to Williamstown Thursday and came away with 25-12, 25-22 wins to get their first victory of the season.

  • Warriors volleyball team off to...

    After a slow start in which each team had trouble getting their serves over the net the Eminence Warriors took off and never looked back, handily defeating Louisville Southern, 2-0.

    The first game started with the teams trading net serves, but at 3-3 Brie Prewitt went back to serve and the Warriors ripped off six straight points to take a 9-3 lead. Prewitt had three aces in the run, while Tiffany Thomas had a block and Kennedy Fitzgerald had a kill.

  • Warriors run past Caverna

    What started as a close shootout turned into a second-half rout as the Eminence Warriors beat Caverna 56-20 in their season opener.

    Quarterback Justin Mitchell picked up where he left off last year, racking up 197 yards passing on 8 completions.

    What a difference a year can make.

    The Henry County Wildcats soccer team lost to Spencer County 9-1 last year in a season where the young Wildcats took many beatings. This year may be different if there first regular season game is any indication.

    The Wildcats hosted the Bears on Aug. 20 and came away with an exciting, hard-fought 2-2 draw.

  • Late TD propels Rockets past...

    In the opening game of their season, the Henry County Wildcats were poised for a victory over neighboring Shelby County.
    But a furious comeback with 22 seconds left in the game foiled the Cats, and the Rockets left the field with a 27-20 win.
    The final drive for the winning play came with the game knotted at 20 with 3:23 left to play. The Rockets had come back from a 20-7 halftime deficit and had momentum on their side. Their final drive appeared to stall when they faced fourth-and-4 with 1:37 remaining.

  • Lady Cats defeat Carroll,...

    The Henry County Lady Cats golf team hosted the Carroll County Lady Panthers and the Atherton Rebels on Aug. 13 and came away with a victory.

    The Lady Cats’ MacKenzie Peyton, who has had a busy season, took the day off to practice and her young teammates were able to pull out a victory without her.

    Henry County totaled 229 strokes, while Carroll County shot 243 and Atherton shot 246.

  • Cats beat Cats, Fall to Raiders...

    After opening their season with a loss to Trimble County on Aug. 13, the Henry County Wildcats boys’ golf team roared back with a 192-196 win over Gallatin County.

    Alex Hadden, who shot 40 and took individual honors, led the Wildcats. Isaac Klempner was the second lowest scorer in the match with a 47. Jakob Beckley shot 52 followed by Robbie Cruse with a 53. Dillon Allen, the Wildcats fifth player, shot 55.

  • Powell right at home at Midway

    Karie Powell, a 2010 graduate of Henry County High School is entering her senior year at Midway College. Powell, a former Lady Cat softball player, began her career at Midway as the starting shortstop and now plays the outfield and both middle infield positions.

  • Cybriwsky named Warrior Cross...

    Laryssa Cybriwsky has been named as the new cross country coach at Eminence High School. Cybriwsky is in her first year as a sixth grade English and science teacher at Eminence Middle School.

    Cybrwisky ran cross country and track at Paintsville High School. She made the state championships in both sports three consecutive years. 

    In college Cybriwsky majored in middle school education. This is her first teaching and coaching job.

    She is residing in Eminence and is excited about the opportunity to coach.
