  • Highland Renaissance 24-Hour Race

    The Highland Renaissance site in Eminence will host a 24-hour footrace on March 13-14, starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday and finishing at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

    Due to Daylight Saving’s Time, which falls during the event, the finishing time has been pushed back one hour to get in the total 24 hours.

  • HCHS girls like where they&...

    After beating Grant County 55-42 last Friday night for their fifth consecutive win, Todd Gilley said his Ladycats are right where they need to be with the postseason just days away.

    The Henry County High School girls’ basketball team entered this week with a 13-9 overall record, is scheduled to play at Waggener this Wednesday and at Eminence on Friday, and opens the 31st District tournament against Owen County on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The five-game win streak, capped off by the Gallatin victory, shows that the Ladycats are playing their best ball when it counts the most.

  • EHS girls pick up win No. 2

    Celebrating their second win this basketball season, the Eminence Lady Warriors defeated Covington Latin 46-38 last Friday night.

    The Lady Warriors beat St. Francis on Jan. 28. They were ahead of Evangel Christian two weeks ago but were given a 2-0 forfeit loss when the referees ruled the game was out of control with Eminence leading 50-47 and just 2:12 left in regulation.

    Against Latin in Eminence’s Homecoming on Friday, the Warriors led most of the way and came away with win number two. They are now 2-23 on the season.

  • Snow, go away!!!

    I feel like I’m stuck smack-dab in the middle of the Winter Olympics, and I’m not liking it too much. I swear I went downhill skiing while trying to walk off my front porch; I felt like I was on the bobsled team trying to navigate out of my driveway in my car; and I was on a cross-country ski course while trying to run outside – yes, that was me running through Pleasureville during the storm on Monday and thank you to all those drivers who felt it necessary to honk at me.

  • Wild game ends with Eminence...

    The Eminence Lady Warriors were on the verge of winning their second basketball game of the season, but instead were given a forfeit loss when the referees ruled the game was out of control with Eminence leading 50-47 and 2:12 left in regulation.

    Playing at Evangel Christian last Tuesday, Eminence coach Carter Martin was called for two technical fouls and eventually ejected from the game with 5:40 left in the final quarter and his team ahead by 18 points.

  • Warriors trying to put it...

    Trailing by just three points after the first quarter, the Eminence boys’ basketball team was playing near-perfect against the Shelby County Rockets last Tuesday night — the Warriors held an early lead, were tied 10-10 five minutes into the contest and had few mistakes against a squad that was supposed to run away with an unchallenged victory from tip-off.

  • Emotional win for the Ladycats

    Emotions were running high on Saturday as the Henry County girls’ basketball team beat Kentucky Country Day 51-39 on Senior Night.

    The three seniors — Kelsey Mings, Brittany Crawford and Kelley Evridge — were recognized individually, along with their parents, before tip-off with plenty of tears and hugs. The emotions left the Ladycats a little flat in the early going, but they eventually shook off the sluggish start to take control and win by 12 points.

    I am shocked, but I’m still a Colts fan. On Sunday while Indianapolis was playing the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl, I was on the edge of my couch cheering for what I thought was a sure win. No doubt.

  • Price picks Pikeville

    Chris Price had a never-ending list of colleges to decide between, but in the end went with an in-state NAIA program that was one of the final schools to join his list.

    Price narrowed his choices down to 10, visited six and eventually pared it down to Pikeville College or the University of Tennessee at Martin. He made his decision with a verbal commitment on Feb. 3 and made it official with a signing at Henry County High School on Feb. 10, the first day of college football’s national signing period.

  • Henry Co. draws Owen

    The boys’ 31st District seeds are now set.

    The annual district meeting between the four schools was pushed up to last Friday because of a three-way tie for the top seed in the tournament. The teams met at around noon for the draw between Henry County, Gallatin County and Owen County — Carroll County was already guaranteed the fourth seed after an 0-6 district mark during the regular season.
