  • Third Quarter's the Charm

The third quarter’s the charm for the Eminence Warriors.

In games against Williamstown and Carroll County, the Warriors outscored their opponents by wide margins in the third period to blitz both opponents.

Against Carroll County, the Warriors jumped out to a 6-1 lead as Jalen Dixie hit consecutive 3-pointers on the Warriors first two possessions.

  • Warriors fall to Lady Tigers

With just 8 players available, the Eminence girls basketball team was shorthanded as they traveled to Bardstown Monday.

The Warriors fell to the Lady Tigers, 55-14; thanks in part to a decisive, second-quarter run.

With such a short roster, the Warriors were faced with the prospect of seeing pressure defense from the outset. Bardstown’s pressure was too much as turnovers piled up for EHS.

  • Warriors drop two in district

The Eminence Warriors will play at least their next two games without senior Daishon Moore, who was ejected from the team’s Saturday night game at Carroll County.

The Warriors were off to a hot start against the Panthers, hitting their first six shots, taking a 14-0 lead.

But a scuffle broke out between Moore and Carroll County’s Dakota Corbin, resulting in the ejection of both players with 1:06 remaining in the opening period. Both players threw punches, and the ejection by referees means an automatic two-game suspension for each of them.

  • Cats Go Cold Against KCD

In their sixth game in 10 days, the Henry County Wildcats went cold as they faced the Kentucky Country Day Bearcats, losing 47-36.

The Cats got off to a good start in the opening period, but the offense ground to halt in the second half.

Against KCD’s tough, physical inside play and outside pressure, the Cats managed just 6 points in the third quarter and a lone basket at the buzzer in the fourth quarter.

  • EHS girls fall to Carroll, KCD

The Warriors traveled to Carrollton Saturday to take on the Lady Panthers and fell 64-20.

Coach Bill Covington said, “We only had seven players. The girls exerted great effort for 32 minutes. They did not quit. Savannah  Mertz was our leading scorer and Emily Bryant and Tiffany Thomas led us in rebounding.”

  • Lady Cats fall in three games

The Lady Cats 45-34 loss to Whitefield Academy was a combination of shots not falling for the home team, and too many big shots dropping for the visitors.

Henry County hosted Whitefield Academy Friday, and fell victim to an early hot streak to the Lady Wildcats; Whitefield hit their first three 3-point attempts to take an early 9-2 lead.

The Lady Cats chased the game for the rest of the night as they couldn’t hit from close range for most of the game.
