  • First win of season for Warriors

    The Eminence players hooted, hollered and gave high fives while jumping around the baseball field last Wednesday night. They couldn’t keep it in, not after they earned their first win of the season with a 7-4 outing over Evangel Christian.

    It was the Warriors first win in almost a year, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

  • Cats compete against some of the...

    The Henry County track team had just eight athletes compete at the Eastern Relays, held at the University of Louisville’s track complex Saturday, but the Cats left Louisville with some of their best individual performances of the season.

  • Ladycats turn the corner

    Lately, the Ladycats have seen high-quality pitching from Kaitlyn Foree, backed by near-perfect defense and bats that have come alive — all accumulating to five straight victories for the Henry County softball squad.

    As of last week, when the Ladycats tacked on four more wins, the Cats have officially turned the corner, which they hope will propel them to another North Central Kentucky Conference championship, another 31st District title and a chance to play for their first regional crown.

  • Two county athlets ranked in...

    Two track and field athletes from the county were ranked in the latest addition of the Kentucky High School State Track Ratings, which ranks the top eight athletes in each event in all three classes.

    Henry County’s Brittany Crawford was ranked third among Class 2A girls in the 100-meter hurdles, while Eminence’s Ed Berry was ranked second among Class A boys in the high jump. Crawford finished second in the 100-hurdles at the Kentucky State Track and Field Championships last spring and Berry finished eighth in the high jump.

  • Warriors continue track season...

    The Eminence track team had just five athletes compete at the Harry Greschel Christian Academy Invitational over the weekend, but still managed to bring back to Eminence some eye-popping results.

    The 400-meter relay team of Ed Berry, TJ Cooper, Trey Lindsey and Tihon Durrett placed third; Berry won the long jump, placed second in the high jump and fifth in the triple jump; Cooper finished fifth in the high jump; and Jon Reed placed 16th in the long jump. In just their second track meet of the season, it was a good day for the Warriors.

  • Wildcats continue winning streak

    The Henry County Wildcats, who haven’t lost a game since April 7, stretched their winning streak to eight straight heading into this week’s baseball action.

    Led by solid pitching, fielding and batting in four games last week, the Cats defeated Carroll County (5-4), Walton-Verona (10-0), Warren Central (3-2) and Bullitt East (9-3) to improve to an impressive 10-2 record. The last two games were part of the PTA Wooden Bat Classic, held in Elizabethtown over the weekend.

  • Shorthanded Cats led by Adams in...

    The Henry County Cats were missing some key ingredients Saturday when they participated in the Harry Greschel Christian Academy Invitational, but brought back to New Castle some impressive performances despite the low numbers.

    The track team was missing Brittany Crawford due to a strained hamstring and a number of other athletes due to grades, which made the results a bit skewed for the Cats.

    “I was proud of the ones that showed up and ran,” Henry coach Ricky Drawbaugh said afterwards. “They are continuing to improve every week.”

  • EHS Warriors improving, but...

    The Eminence baseball team is still searching for its first win of the season, but things are definitely looking brighter for the squad that took a state-record 58-0 beating from Anderson County two weeks ago.

    With a majority of its players back in the rotation - which added to the Anderson debacle - plus the addition of newcomers Nelson Hedges and Ed Berry, Eminence is showing signs of a team that could turn the tables on its 0-9 start.

  • Student comes before athlete

    When Henry County’s track team loaded the bus to head off to the Harry Greschel Christian Academy Invitational this past Saturday, nine athletes were missing due to poor grades. It definitely had an affect on the team’s performance that day, leaving them empty handed in most of the events and without enough athletes to field some relays.

  • Ladycats play in premier...

    The Henry County Ladycats didn't get as many wins as they would have liked at the Sports Warehouse Classic - the premier tournament in the state, held at Owensboro Catholic High School over the weekend - but it wasn't a complete disappointed either.

    The Cats earned one win against "very tough" opponents, put themselves in position to win a few more games and, more importantly, improved their swing while facing some overpowering pitchers.
