  • Fields of Dreams

Anyone who played on the Henry County High School baseball field in the late 1970’s can tell you that it was not an ideal place to play the game.

Randy Berry was a pitcher and infielder for the Wildcats in the late-70’s. He said, “It was just a hayfield. It was pretty rough. I remember me and Kenny James bringing our tractors to work on it back in the day.”

  • Ah, the 'good' old days

Working on the feature story for this week sent me down memory lane.

It was interesting comparing memories with other people. It is amazing what time can do to your memories. Talking to Stan Olsen, Donnie Williams, my high school baseball coach and Randy Berry, a former baseball teammate, helped me remember some of the days when I played centerfield for the Wildcats.

  • Track Cats compete at Mason-...

The Henry County Wildcat track team wrapped up the indoor season by competing in the Mason Dixon Games in Louisville on Saturday.

Cole Nelson led the way for the Wildcats with a 3rd place finish in the long jump. Cathryn Fischer also faired well in the long jump with a 6th place finish.

Destany Crawford got 7th in the 60-meter hurdles, Connor Finley placed 6th in the same event and Morgan Miller finished 5th in the pole vault. The top eight finishers scored in each event.

  • Pioneers halt Warriors' run

Stifling man-to-man defense brought the Eminence Warriors’ season to a grinding halt last week.

The Warriors postseason run — their best in seven years — ended when they ran into Simon Kenton. The Pioneers defense was so tight, the Warriors shot just 22 percent from the field in a 64-33 loss in the first round of the 8th Region tournament.

Warriors coach Chris Nethery summed the game up in a sentence.

“Their defense forced us into a lot of bad shots that led to easy transition baskets for them,” he said.

  • Looking back onseason's...

Another basketball season is complete in Henry County and it’s time to look back on some of the highlights of this past season.

1 The EHS Warriors boys’ basketball team beat Gallatin County in the district tournament to make it to the regional tournament for the first time since 2000.
