    Henry County’s Cody Hinkel picked a good night to step up his game as he muscled his way to 23 points, pulled down numerous rebounds and stayed cool down the stretch to propel the Wildcats to a 59-54 victory over South Oldham in the 8th Region tournament.

    The stars were aligned for Hinkel last Thursday night on his home court, which allowed the Wildcats to win their first regional tournament game in exactly 20 years and advance to the semifinals.

    In Henry County’s season opener Saturday afternoon, Brittany Crawford and Travis Farmer both earned third-place finishers at the Mason-Dixon Games — which also served as the Kentucky Indoor State Track and Field Championships — and the Henry girls finished 16th in the team standings while the boys finished 22nd.

  • 'Cardiac Cats' play to...

    After the 31st District tournament last week, I’ll have to give the Henry County Wildcats a thanks for doing what they do best: keeping fans on the edge of their seats and this reporter exhaling at the end of games. They truly are the Cardiac Cats, which is a title no team has been more deserving to have.

    I haven’t been able to exercise much this winter due to a few nagging injuries but the Wildcats have kept my heart rate at an all-time high. Don’t believe me? Go watch Henry play in the 8th Region tournament this week and you will see what I mean.
