    The Henry County Ladycats made history on the volleyball court this season: winning a school-record 24 matches, going undefeated in conference play to win the North Central Kentucky Conference for the first time, winning the mid-season Carroll County Invitational, winning the 8th Region All “A” Classic tournament and playing in the first-ever All “A” Classic state tournament. But they didn’t get the No. 1 goal they set at the beginning of the season: repeating as 28th District champs.

    In a contest labled “The Game,” it just wasn’t much of a game this year. In fact, it was a K.O. off a strong, right haymaker in the opening round — if this was a boxing match that is. Eminence was bounced off the ropes, knocked down early and couldn’t get back up as Henry County came away with an unpredictable 55-6 victory.

    For a game that was hyped to be a county showdown between undefeated Eminence and a Henry County squad coming off its first loss of the season, Henry wasted no time in putting the Warriors away as the Wildcats scored less than a minute into the contest and never looked back.

    The Henry County girls’ soccer team dropped two more games last week — 6-2 against Western Hills on Wednesday and 3-1 against Fern Creek on Thursday — but they are still “on the upward curve of progression,” head coach Shannon Snider said of his Ladycats who brought a 3-1-7 record into this week.
