  • Warriors fall to Greyhounds

The young Eminence Warrior baseball team continued to struggle last week as they dropped games to Trimble County 11-1, Owen County 13-1 and Paris 11-1. However, the Warriors are showing improvement from last year.

In the game against Paris Friday night Eminence trailed by just three runs going into the fifth inning. Through four innings the Warriors had only one error and had not given up any walks. Austin Jones and Jalen Dixie showed good command of the strike zone and the defense held behind them. But in the fifth inning the Warriors’ defense fell apart.

  • Warriors fall to Frankfort

The Lady Panthers scored 10 runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third and six in the fourth.

The Henry County Lady Cats opened their season at home on March 18 and fell to Sacred Heart 5-4 in eight innings.

The Lady Cats struck first when they scored a run in the bottom of the second. Katie James laid down a suicide squeeze bunt with two outs to score Alison Harmon who was running for Madison Rabourn. Rabourn singled with one out to start the rally.

The Cats gave up their lead in the top of the fifth when Sacred Heart got two runs on a single, two errors, a sacrifice and a fielder’s choice groundout.

  • Wildcats down Demons for 1st win

The Henry County Wildcats managed to squeeze in three games last week despite the wintry weather in the middle of the week and got their first victory of the season with an 8-0 win over Williamstown on Friday night.

The Wildcats got good pitching and enough offense to get the win according to Coach Stuart Dill.

We pitched really well,” Dill said. “We only walked two batters the entire game. Dakota Estes pitched four complete innings and Blake Prather pitched the last three.

  • Warriors lose opener to Frankfort

The Eminence Warriors opened their season at home on Friday and fell to the Frankfort Panthers 10-5. The young Warriors showed much improvement over last season both offensively and defensively in their debut. The Panthers beat the Warriors 11-1 in five innings last season.

The game started poorly for the Warriors as Frankfort hit a home run on the second pitch of the game and went on to add three more runs in the inning.

  • Warriors drop two to open the...

The Eminence Warriors opened the season with two home games last week. On Thursday night the young Warrior squad fell to Carroll County 15-0 and Friday Whitefield Academy defeated them 17-0.

Coach Jerry Martin is trying to build the team almost from scratch and is attempting to set the tone of playing winning softball first.

“We have to get rid of the defeatist attitude first,” Martin said. “We had some kids who expected to get beat before we went on the field. We should never accept defeat until it happens.”
